    Ford 960 alternator bracket

By fat chance, would switching to an alternator require a different length standoff bracket. I ask because my alternator is awful close to the governor linkage and I can't pull the alternator out any further. Might I have the bracket meant for the original generator? Dan

    Got to tell you guys!

I've been lurking here for several years now after buying my Ford 960 and overhauling it for my own farm. Yeah.....could of spent $20 + grand, but I love these older tractors. Can not tell you how valuable your information on this site has been between all the different conversations about...

Thanks for all the responses guys! I'll heed everyone's advise here. Thanks Matt from Oz for reminding me to wedge that section you mention. Giving a pic of my front end of my 960. I posted a few weeks back that If you have tie rods (original) that need to be replaced, I found some tie...

    Splitting my 960

Luckily, I have a wide front but I see why you did what you did. Smart idea and design! I also did noticed that you put some block support underneath the side rails. That's what I'm asking about. Thanks for the reply Dan

    Splitting my 960

Have a question about the side rails/frame running along side the engine . Do most people just support the engine and let these hang at the rear of the engine after split or do they try to support these along with the engine? Anything I'm not thinking about? Gotta clutch to replace Dan

Ford 960 side front tie rods

Just wanted to share a fix for those that own a Ford 960 widefront and your tie-rods and ball joints were shot. Some of us over the past few seasons have agonized what to do and how to rebuild if possible. I found this. Fit well, right taper and adjustable. Check'em out for yourself if you...

Ford 960 wide front tie rods

Hi John Yep....looking at parts to weld or screw together.....how ever I am going to talk to a few people about Massey parts from the mid 50's. These manufactures were having a love hate relationship back then and might have an outside chance that one of the Massey's may share a tie rod of the...

Ford 960 wide front tie rods

Yep..... they're the most elusive thing on this tractor. Reseigned to fact that I will have to make a new set. The old ones, if they are the original and thats a big if have been cut on, welded on so much are not adjustable. Does anyone know for fact the tapers/size of the ball joints (...

Got a hydraulic problem that just baffels me. Rebuilt my piston pump. Was priming but now can't get fluid. Lift has a mind of its own . Lifted slow at first. Quadrant lever had to be 1/2 way up before it thought about lifting. Come back a couple days later and the lift starts lifting with...

    Solenoid confusion

Just finished wiring my 960, but now have questions about my solenoid left over from the previous wiring job. The solenoid that I have has 2 terminal plus "I" terminal and no "S" terminal. This one is stumping me considering most diagrams show the starter button going to the S terminal...
