    New to Me

....Speaking of horses, I checked the serial number last night and the tractor is a super 77. The engine block numbers indicate a S88 or 880, 265 CI and a little higher compression. I had to pinch myself.

    New to Me

Check this out, went to a farm auction and couldn't pass on this vintage work horse. I saved this one from the scrapper, I found out later that he was the only one bidding against me. :D No major issues as of yet, I may have questions if there are problems. [/img]

    makin a cheap-o pasture drag I think

Yeah, a 5' section of chain link, put someting heavy on the leading edge to hold it down. I used something similar to drag out a M/C dirt track many moons ago.

Welder Question ??? (Lincoln AC 225)

they use the same power (amps) as your clothes dryer or kitchen range. My Dad and I bought one in 1970 or so, and I still use it on occation when i'm out at his farm. It still works fine. I see them for cheap at swap meets and on CL. Not to popular anymore, now that you can buy a $99 wire...

I think I Broke My Tractor!!

Hub=soft material. Your axle is super hard. Clean up the exposed threads as good as you can and start dismantling. Check for damaged parts. My father rattled his right hub up tight, several times befor he broke down and bought new. I'm not say'n that's the right way, just what happens in the...

Success, the old one's out and replaced with a NAPA #1021, thanks Den. the nineteen year old counter-guy didn't have any cross ref. guides for tractors. I gave the other three a tap test, and passed. they sounded solid. Flushed the block till clear water showed. I buttoned her up so next...

    Freeze plug removal

I have my Dad's 8N running after it "resting" for about 16 years. What a process. But now a little drip from left side, of coarse directly under the starter. I pulled the starter for a look and thin metal under the painted freeze plug, probe with a flat blade and now it's a dime sized hole...

    TD-9 Starter

I know this is a tractor site, but I was wondering if anyone in SW Wasnington has a favorite, reputable electrical repair shop they can recomend??? My TD-9 starter doesent crank. I played with the linkeage, no go. I took a jumper cable to the stud directly on the top of the starter, still no...

    OT: need welding advice

The MIG processes is best applied in the shop, a controlled environment. Flux-core wire machines are used widely in the field on structural steel jobs. good ol Lo-Hi ( E 7018 ) rod works well for most applications, with a skilled operator. You need to know what the material is that you are...
