    TE hood

My TEA20 came with a very rusty steel hood and side panels. Got from a wreck a very good condition hood and side panels. The hood is steel and the side panels are aluminium, with only one crack in it that needs repairing. My belief is that Harry built the UK tractors out what he could get and...

how do u deal with it

Never let it worry you. The guys driving the modern stuff I find have the most interest in the old tractors. The ones I meet are really keen to see how a farmer worked a field with 25 to 40hp and are never jealous of the fact they drive 100hp to 250 hp.

Serial Number Plate for a TE 20

If it is a TE20, it will have a casting number behind the generator on the engine block, and another just behind the gearbox/differential oil dip stick. These have been mentioned before for identifying the date and year these components were built, if the serial number plate is missing.

    front axle pivit

I am doing this job on a TEA 20 at the moment. This is what I did this weekend and I still have lots to do next weekend. I had to remove the bonnet/hood completely. Jack the tractor up and secure it safely on wooden blocks. Chock the back wheels if you do not trust your brakes. I removed the...

    which API engine oil rating?

Like Dick I have elected to use 15 - 40W Sinopec (it was cheap) oil for diesel and petrol engines in my TEA20. What was in the transmission and hydraulics was I felt what the factory used plus water... Should be a lot better than what I removed! I am not expecting the tractor will do a lot of...

    TEA 20 Steering Bearing

The TEA 20 gift tractor is running well now, so long as it has fresh fuel in it. The bearing at the top of the steering tube is shot. So I am looking at dismantling the steering box, removing any pieces of the bearing out of the steering box and then re-building it. I did a Nuffield Universal...

    TEA-20 Engine serial number

Kyle, I had a similar issue, my serial number plate is not the same age as the tractor. But this thread will help identify some casting numbers which are the date. http://www.ytmag.com/cgi-bin/viewit.cgi?bd=ferg&th=89018 There are some very helpful and knowledgable guys here on this website.

    te20 price

There is still an excellent market for TEA 20s. This video features a Motueka orchardist who has 24 in operation, working apples and kiwifruit and he is still buying them for no more than NZ$1500 each. http://tvnz.co.nz/country-calendar/s2011-e14-video-4213707 So how is this deal for inflation...

    Gift TEA 20

Many thanks for the help guys. I think the Fergie is a 1954 model based on Bill's info. The following photo is of the engine casting number which is 1154, and you can see the water pump is part of the block, but overlaps the head. The trans/diff casting number is 1754. So those are very close...

    Gift TEA 20

Bill Thanks for that update. I am unable to work on the tractor until Saturday (my time NZ so will get back to you then. Some mystery here and I value your help. Jeff, the only difference we were planning to leave a mixture of waste oil and diesel in the tractor for longer than 10 minutes - we...

    Gift TEA 20

Thanks guys for the ready advice. The casting number on this Fergie where you suggested to look is 1 7 6 4 (all in one line). Does that suggest that it is a 1954 model or does 6 + 4 make 10 for 1950? Confused. But then this tractor could have been made from two, some farmer mechanics were great...
