    8N rear axle

WOW, this is timely for me! Just started working on the same over the weekend.. Was getting ready to ask some of the same questions, of course my questions would have made no sense!

    Drag Link Boot

I'm glad I was able to use the long drag links I had as the shorter one's would not have reached. I hope the leather doesn't pop! Fingers crossed. I'm pretty much doing a full restoration (don't know what I was thinking) so trying to keep everything as original as I can. I buy almost all my...

    Top Link Rocker

Hello Gentlemen, I have a 51 8n and needed to replace the Top Link Rocker. I originally had a 3 pin rocker. I purchased an after-market one from our awesome host here. The challenge is it won't fit on the tractor. Its too narrow by about an 1/8 of an inch. Any suggestions???

    Drag Link Boot

All done. I used one 3/4 washer, two large sockets (7/8 to rest the top of the arm on and 3/4 to push down on the washer) and my press. They went on easy enough, but getting them all the way down was a pain. I had to carefully go around the edges with the press but they are on! Thank you again!!

    Drag Link Boot

Thank you for all the pictures, they were very helpful. I'm pretty certain I can rig up something to press them back on!

    Drag Link Boot

After your reply, now knowing fully they do come off, I was able to get it off with out much fanfare using a screwdriver to wedge between the cover and the shaft and then a larger one afterwards. Will now explore options for getting the new ones back on. Thank you!

    Drag Link Boot

Hello Gentlemen (and Ladies if there's any on here), I am trying to replace the leather drag link boot on my 51 8n at the steering arm. The Boot was shot and it appears it was molded inside as part of the drag link when made. There is no clip or ring that I can see that would allow me to...

Hydraulic Pump - what should I be thinking?

That makes a huge amount of sense based upon the position I've put myself. Hopefully that is the last time I do something without asking first. But I guess that's one way to learn... jump in wrench first... for better or worse. Thank you so much.

Hydraulic Pump - what should I be thinking?

That probably would have been a good idea! Shame I wasn't smart enough to ask first

Hydraulic Pump - what should I be thinking?

51 8n... I dropped the pump to replace the slightly leaking gasket (and removed the cover as it was a rusted mess - to clean and paint). As I think about it, the lifts would loose pressure if the tractor sat; say overnight and sometimes over several hours I opened one of the chambers...

    refilling steering gear box...

Hah! I just noticed that hole when I was putting it back together and figured... I'd better ask before I do something stupid. It was definitely low before then, as I'd actually tipped it on its side and the oil came out but I didn't put two and two together. Thank you!

    refilling steering gear box...

51 8n... I've cleaned everything up and painted it. Now I'm reattaching everything back to the tractor. I stupidly didn't pay attention (I try to take pictures of everything I'm doing so I don't need to remember) but I don't recall how full the gear box was with the fluid... Any idea...

    Replacing Oil??

Just realized I didn't respond to this, sorry. Thanks for the information!

    Camshaft (brake actuating) removal

Thank you! that's what I suspected and was hoping it wasn't both. I watched a video on youtube about replacing brake assy and it didn't seem complicated.
