    Starter is grinding

    The start seemed ok before I split the tractor to put in a clutch. I didnt see shims so I put none back in. I thought maybe there should have been. The flywheel was ok as far as I remember but I have pics so I'll go back and look at those. Thanks folks! Bill

    Hi All, Having a starter issue, she takes 2-3 or 4 time on the start button before the starter will fully engage and spin the engine. I cleaned up the bendix drive as well as could be done. Left some light oil on there, didnt help. That bendix is replaceable right? Starter seems...

    This is off the front of my Case VA for the loader. When I tore it down, the loader was not working. Could have been water, low oil, maybe this pump, I dunno. Your sage advice is welcome. Rebuild it now? Later? There isn't much writing I can see to identify a rebuild kit. Thanks, Bill

    I cracked it open again to verify the clutch was correct. I guess i need to adjust the fingers.

    I did have some problems putting it back together. When I installed it this way and tried to slide it together it wouldn't go. I took it back apart and found that the clutch splines didn't want to nicely slide together. When I tried to slide it on backwards it would go but turn it around and no...

    If I cut/resurface the flywheel do I need to shim between the flywheel and crank? Just put it all back together and have no clutch, wont disengage. Adjusting rod is all the way in and can't go farther.

    I got all new (reman) parts from YT. I had the flywheel resurfaced from the local Advanced recommended to me by another shop.

    That's the thing, I'm pretty sure I did not install the clutch backwards. I took a picture before I buttoned it up.
