    John Deere 318 Hydro

    The tractor is running great. For some reason when I go in reverse the tractor moves real slow but does move. Tranny fluid ok in sight glass. No idea why it doing this.

    Deere 318 starter won't engage

    While I had the starter out I would take it to an electrical repair shop that deals in starters and such and have them put a new set of brushes in it. Only costs Approx #20.00 but well worth it.

    I too have this problem. I have to choke it and run the starter until the battery almost dies before it starts. It seems like the fuel drains back into the tank. If I run it every day it starts right up.

    Might be buying an 8700

    Found an 8700 in Houston, MS I"m real interested in. Going to look at it Monday. It needs a cab interior & seat, and a new engine panel on rt. front side, but aside from those things the tractor looks great. Got 3190 hrs. on it.     OT: Mole chasing windmills

    PUT PEANUT BUTTER ON A MOUSE TRAP AND SET IT NEXT TO AN ACTIVE MOLE HOLE. COVER THE TRAP WITH A CARDBOARD BOX FOR THE NIGHT AND BINGO YOU HAVE THE MOLE IN THE MORNING. KEEP DOING THIS UNTIL YOU KILL THEM ALL. I HAVE TRIED ALL THE OTHER TRICKS OF THE TRADE BUT THIS ONE WORKS BEST.

    Dear newfy, (notice I took off the caps lock) I put in two new spark plugs and backed off adjustment screw 1 1/2 turns and it started right up and ran good. no need to rebuild carb at this time. got the plow and chains on and i'm ready for the snow that we are going to get this afternoon...
