F162 Continental Oil Pump Install...How to get Distributor Shaft Timed Correctly?

How does one get the distributor shaft timed properly to the cam shaft when installing the oil pump/distributor shaft...installing on inside of engine. Timing marks? Just get it in general location? I could put #1 at TDC and then orient so that distributor rotor is pointing at #1 plug...

    JD H Road Gear?

Yes, I was envisioning the same sort of thing. But, have some decent weight on the trailer contraption so it doesn't slip and kick itself sideways...but then again, I'm talking about an H here...hardly enough power to move itself.

    JD H Road Gear?

About 20 years ago I lived in town and was time to get the H out to my newly constructed home about 3 miles away. One night my pal said "Hey, let's just pull it out there now"...well, he decided to crank it up to around 30mph with me on the tractor, he pulling with an F150...I almost crapped...

JD H starter Bendix not disengaging

Starter worked no prob before removing. I just took off the brush access hole cover and sprayed some brake cleaner to remove some gunk. I just lubed the bendix gear...didn't remove bendix at all.

JD H starter Bendix not disengaging

Yes, I thought that removing that guard ring, one might be able to see the gear interplay. Yes, crankshaft endplay might be the issue also. I may end up putting spacers (washers) between starting mounting plate and transmission to which it is bolted....the 3 bolts. Might need to get 3...

JD H starter Bendix not disengaging

Ok, I removed starter on H for a general cleanup and lube...had to remove mounting bracket to remove starter....not a big deal. Took a wire brush to all the teeth on the ring gear. Put back together and tractor spun over super fast (with plugs in)...that's great. Once I got it running with...

    Handy Little Volt Meter Gauge

I glued one of these handy little volt meter to the hood of my 3400. It only draws only like 20 mA current (nothing) and can be seen easily. Has a calibration pot on rear. I used like a super glue with a hardener spray....glued it right on top of hood....just hook up to Switched 12VDC... I...

3400 with 730 loader ....the FLOAT position quit working

Could you provide some clarification? This photo is similar to mine, but the assembly pointed to by red arrow is taller and has an acorn-nut on top. Are you referring to removing assembly pointed to by blue arrow? Beneath? From what I remember, there is a 1.5" (approx) diam cap...
