    W-9 Pistons

I've posted pictures and updates on the W-9 Gas recently here. I'm wondering if anyone has some used engine parts for sale on this site? I may need to destroy or sacrifice a couple of pistons just to get them out without breaking something. Let me know what's available or who to contact to ask...

    W9--Finally got one piston out.

I haven't tried that but it sounds like a good plan, I'll probably try that.

    W9--Finally got one piston out.

I tried to drive them up before but they all were solid, I put an awful lot of down pressure before the ring snapped, I think the others care going to be a battle but we'll see, I started soaking back ones with diesel fuel the past few days too.

    W9--Finally got one piston out.

I'm afraid that that was one of the easy ones,#1. #3 & #4 have more rust. The only way I got this one to budge was after soaking it with Marvel Mystery oil a couple weeks I put a lot of pressure down until I snapped the top ring right off the sleeve, then I knew it had started to move so...

    W9--Finally got one piston out.

I finally drove one piston out with sleeve on it. Sleeve was shinny still on outside. I pressed it down first and broke ring off sleeve top.

W9 pistons still frozen in sleeves

I did what you suggested and snapped off the ring at the top of the sleeve so it moved everything a little.

W9 pistons still frozen in sleeves

So will pressing them out from the bottom must be what your talking about but that may split the block castings do you suppose. I can drill a bunch of holes in the top since they are aluminum and probably break the piston apart to save everything else but would there be pistons available...

W9 pistons still frozen in sleeves

Engine is out and all stripped down except for the pistons and the camshaft which turns some but lifters are stuck too. Bore reads apx 4.475 <img src=https://www.yesterdaystractors.com/cvphotos/cvphoto110721.jpg >

W9 pistons still frozen in sleeves

Engine is out on a pallet, all stripped down except for the pistons stuck in sleeves and the cam is in yet, it turns about 1/3 turn but lifters are stuck too yet.

W9 pistons still frozen in sleeves

Any fresh ideas on getting these badly stuck pistons out, soaked for weeks with Kroil and PB but I think I may need to drill or torch them, what method works best?

    W- 9 engine removal

Thanks, I went ahead and ordered one of the service manuals from this site that should cover my tractor. If it doesn't can I get some way to look at what you have scanned? thanks

    W- 9 engine removal

Thanks for your concern, those blocks are not exactly what you describe, they are laminated 6X6 posts cut off from the posts that are built into this shop, one is flat and second one is on edge but the same dimensions. I had to lower it off the forklift and set it down before night but it is...

    W- 9 engine removal

Well I got the engine out this afternoon without breaking anything but I will definitely need a shop manual before I go much further. Does anyone here have one that they want to sell. I see some on eBay but some are sold out or diesel only, I need a gas one.

    W- 9 engine removal

Ok, so I do need to remove the gas tank and support, the belt pulley and cover, then I should be able to see what needs to come apart? Thanks, I wasn't sure what else I needed to do.
