    alternator questions

    Industry standard part number is a 7127M-3, M-9, or M-12. The difference is the clock position for the wiring harness. Any of these would work, although you may need to loosen the case bolts and pull the front forward just enough to rotate the front case a bit. You'll have to swap pulleys...

    Where I used to work, someone forgot to move a step ladder and lowered a Boeing 757 down on top of it. They had to replace the entire engine cowling for that engine (which they had just done an engine swap)!!!!!!

    The purpose for seeing the crud inside the filter is so I don't get stuck in the field having to change a filter and interrupting my work. I can "see" how much is in there and change it before it becomes a problem. With a gravity feed system, I don't think there would be much "spray" should it...

    I agree that a plastic filter is not the best idea, but I do have it spaced far enough away from the manifold. I guess my stock JD mower is a fire hazzard also....let"s hope it doesn"t go up in flames.

    I personally have left all my stock screens and filter in place. However, I did cut the steel fuel line near the carb and have installed an inline fuel filter. It is a plastic see-thru filter. I did that specifically because I was getting some type of organic matter caught up in the carb...

    On those Fords, you will have to take the throttle body off, and the manifold riser off (goes between throttle body and intake manifold). The passageways in the riser will need to be cleaned with carb cleaner and stiff wire/screwdriver. Have a 2000 F150 that had the same problem. Will cost...

    Cleaning the 2N

    Cheap store brand oven cleaner works pretty good for me. I use it to degrease engine blocks and it seems to do the trick.
