849 NH baler chain link replacement

I've heard that when your chain stretches and is starting to jump off the main drive cog you can remove one ladder bar worth of chain and thus tighten things back up. wondering if anyone has done this and if so how hard is it. I've seen pictures in the factory manual of chain replacement...

    930/1030 case turbo

I'm still planning on rebuilding the 5020. Just need something cheap to fill in while it's rebuilt. Around here in Central nd those case tractors are less than 1500, where as a ol 4630 or care 70 series will cost 7500 to 10 grand. Also this would be propane/ diesel fumigation not straight...

    930/1030 case turbo

Looking at a temp/cheap replacement until I can rebuild my 5020 which I use to bale and some light tillage. My plan was to find a 930 or 1030 not completely used up and add a turbo, additional oil cooling, less restrictive exhaust/intake and propane injection. The propane would be used instead...

    Organic Farming in ND

I'm a farmer in central ND and have been certified organic since 2009. I will agree with some about the paperwork. Although I think a written version of a crop rotation, field and livestock history journals which are required for organic should be done in the conventional world also. Not sure...

    Equipment Size for JD 4020?

What kind of soil do you have? Also is the land flat or hilly? Both items will affect what sort of equipment that tractor will pull.

    organic sweet corn weed management

are you certified USDA organic or just want to grow it organic? If you are certified organic then you can not use the junk hay idea mentioned on another reply unless that junk hay came from a certified organic source. I would focus on correcting soil imbalance, increasing spring tillage with...

    Combining rye max moisture

Matt, a swather will be required. Either that or you could sickle cut and windrow using a lilliston 7200 or something similar. if you use a rake to make your windrow it will not properly feed into the combine and you'll have all sorts of problems. trust me I tried it.

    Liliston 7200 windrower HP requirements

wondering if anyone on here has heard of the Liliston 7200 pull behind windrower. This is a simple 14' pickup with a rotating collector drum into a central spout. I'm wondering if anyone has ever used one of these and if they are any good. Also wondering the HP requirements for this unit...

    800 versatile tractor electrical

Does anyone know the standard voltage of a 1st series versatile 800 with the 855 cummins. I thought it was standard 12 volt with a neg ground. Started hooking up the two new batts that way and it's not right. had a manual but can't find right now and need to get running for field work. if...

    1978 c65 engine swap

My 366 big block in my chevy c65 tandem just threw a rod. I have a few small blocks setting around. Anyone ever swapped in a small block in a c50 or c60. should be the same process. I assume long as the small block front mount bolts up and the accessories brackets fit it should work. This...

    Grain drill to purchase?

I would recommend either JD8300 or 8350 if you want a end wheel drill. The old favorite JD 9350 press wheel can't be beat. Parts are still available. parts units are always seen at auction sales. And the prices in the last 5 years are low enough you can find a 8 ft unit for 500 or a 10...

    Slightly OT: Chevy C60 Tandem

The 5+2 trans will help keep your 350 in it's peak torque without dropping down so low when shifting. It's also nice when you are going up a hill you can drop it into 4th and not lose much speed. far as the 366/350 discussion. I would prefer a 350 because the 366 runs out of top end when your...
