    8N Transmission slips out of gear

    mine slips out of first gear, but all other gears are good. would this spring cause my concern? maybe i can get away with an easy fix. i have not looked into it to see what is messed up.

    no worries, i just put my computer on its side and the pics looked just fine. the spring does seem to be about the same as mine in size and thickness.

    for that price, i think i will find a comparable spring local. i am not about to pay 50 bucks for a spring. it better be a space shuttle spring for that kind of dough. i think the friction disc is gone, and they used a bigger spring to compensate so the throttle would stay i one spot

    So a spring should be there? Going from the parts diagram on the new Holland website it does not show a spring. It has a huge amount of tension. I had a very hard time getting it back on when I took it off. Dang near a trampoline spring!!! Ill take a closer look tomorrow and look...

    Here are the pictures. The large spring is the one I am not sure about. And you can barely see the bolt behind the spring that is loose with the wallowed out hole.

    i took a look at the New Holland parts site, and it seems one of the springs i have is not original, its a very large heavy duty spring. could be the wear on my pivoting arm is coming from with such a high tension spring. i am guessing, maybe the friction discs are worn out, if i take that odd...

    i bought a decent 3000 over the weekend, has some wear and tear but seems like a solid machine, except for needing rear tires pretty dang soon. i am making a list of things that need attention before i stick it down in the woods on bush hog duty for the foreseeable future clearing my home site...

    repairing leak in oil bowl on an air cleaner

    i had good luck with a wire welder, basically a tack weld, then grind down flat to match the surrounding metal.

    i am looking at a 1955 IH 300. i have a few N series Fords, but wanting something different to add to the herd. guy is asking 4 grand which i think is high. what can you folks say about these machines?

    i guess never having a quick hitch i don't know what i am missing. i just get good at lining the tractor up to the implement.
