    Jd450 how does this seal

Had to remove bell housing from jd450 loader to replace seal. I am in process of reassembly. In order to get bell housing off, a 90 degree fitting must be unscrewed from the transmission front cover because it goes through a hole in the bell housing to attach to the transmission front cover...

    Jd450 Input shaft bearing removal

Attached is a picture of the bearing. I am beginning to think it may be ok and may not replace it. Unless it is a simple procedure? I did check with my local John Deere dealer and they did not had the gasket. I have ordered the “washer” you suggested along with the oil seal. The pilot...

    Jd450 Input shaft bearing removal

I’ve got a jd450 straight with the HLR transmission that was leaking bad in the bell housing. I pulled the engine and pulled the bell housing. And pulled the pump. The seal in the pump was bad. There is also quite a bit of play in the input shaft. So, I decided to pull the front cover of the...

What engine do I have 450 straight loader

Yes, I am talking about the bearings or inserts. I did check and the two engines appear to use the same bearings/inserts. I ordered from a local John Deere dealership. I gave them all the information I have to hopefully get the correct ones, but I am not the most confident with their...

What engine do I have 450 straight loader

So, my engine is shot? Toss it aside and replace with another engine? $60 worth of bearings is a gamble I'm willing to take. Long shot for sure, but I have my fingers and toes crossed....

    Another 450 clutch question

Agreed. I won't do it again..... Thanks!

    Another 450 clutch question

This is my second clutch install in about a month on two different tractors. Because I am impatient, I did not adjust the finger plate height on this one. I did on the first one because it was sticking and needed some love freeing it up. However, most people on the forum agreed they shouldn't...

    Another 450 clutch question

I know y’all are going to think I’m crazy, but I have another question about a 450 and doesn’t relate to my other threads. I have a “parts” crawler jd450 straight. It has been sitting for over a year with a bad clutch. It is actually in better shape than the one I’ve been workin on. So, I...

What engine do I have 450 straight loader

Ok. Thanks. I don’t have a good way of measuring, but I did check the bearings that were in it and they were labeled with “std” on them. So, I’m pretty confident they are standard size and the crank hasen’t been resized. Thanks!

What engine do I have 450 straight loader

I had a ton of help a few weeks ago with my 450 loader and determined from my serial number it is a 1968 450 straight. Now I am trying to determine which engine I have. I will post pictures of the serial and the casting on the block and a tag beside the castings. I have read it has the 4.202...

JD 450 Dry Clutch No movement

Update: Wow I'm getting more lucky (or more stupid) by the day. I did another adjustment following the manual and wala it started pulling as it should. I used it for about an hour flawlessly. The last couple of minutes it started losing engine power which was odd. It also started to smoke a...

JD 450 Dry Clutch No movement

Thanks for the reply again! I will hopefully be doing some more testing this weekend… stay tuned. I’m not sure what I could have possibly missed with the 1-4 shifting mechanism. When removing the trans cover, there is really nothing that connects inside the transmission. I didn’t even have to...

JD 450 Dry Clutch No movement

Update. I had a line fabricated. I got it on and back together and… I don’t have something right or there was another problem. I’m not sure I don’t have two problems. The tractor will move but it has no power and it almost seems as if it won’t stay in gear. The 1-4 gear shifter just falls...

    V1702 Aftermarket Head question

Has anyone replaced a head on a Kubota V1702 engine with the aftermarket ones online. They appear to work other than I see a slight difference where they have 2 small holes between each cylinder missing from the looks of it. What are the holes for? Are they a new modification that was made...

JD 450 Dry Clutch No movement

Here is the tag. Looks like it is 5E3M077093. I don’t know if the T’s are part of it or not
