    John Deere D Compression

Thanks fellas, I was guessing 80 psi. I was planning on taking the head off to check the valves and cylinder taper, but I'll belt it up my '39 unstyled and see what I get. If it's close to 60 psi after a wet and dry test I won't bother.

    John Deere D Compression

I just acquired a '39 styled D. What would a reasonable compression be for an original bore low compression piston?

At what point did the AR get a water pump? I thought that happened when the 60 came out.

    Massey 44 Diesel

I removed the small gear pump from the injection pump and let it hang on the hoses. Sure enough, fuel dripped from the shaft seal. Contacted the local seal dealer. Should have a new one in a couple weeks. Has to come up from the States.

    1939 John Deere D

I recently seen a '39 D with 16.9X30 rear tires. Was that an option? I understood the '39's came out with 28" rear tires.

    1939 JD D

Thanks WeirdDeere. With the manual flywheel being a bit light than the electric start one, I was wondering if there would be a counter balance issue.

    1939 JD D

Is it possible to convert a manual start D to electric start? I'm getting to the point where cranking by hand has lost its appeal.
