    Thanks for the info. I wasn't sure if someone made a converter box or some sort of device to run the tach from the alt. The tach is a motorola, But I don't know a thing about it. It has not been hooked up for quite some time.

    I have a koehring-parsons backhoe with a perkins 4 cyl. diesel. Around 1977 or 1978. I read that the tach originally got its signal from the gen.? It now has a 1 wire alt. Is there anyway to get the tach working? thanks.

    mf-35 perkins diesel losing antifreeze

    Very well could be. as the heads are known for cracking, from being overheated. Also you could preasurize your rad with out running eng and check for leaks,however sometimes the eng may need to be warm.

    Broken tractor.com (one word) sells brand new injector pumps, as well as walt"s tractor parts $600. and up. Almost the same as a rebuild of your old one.
