    1970 4020 PTO

I was afraid of that. Lever works ok, made sure the dowels were out pushing on the clutch arms. Bought the gauge to set the clutches when I bought the new parts. Thanks

    1970 4020 PTO

I have a 1970 4020D syncro with 150 hours on a complete rebuild. New clutch/PTO bearings and flywheel. PTO has worked flawless since the rebuild, using a NH 615 disc mower, 336 square baler. This is the 2nd year on the rebuild. Finished baling this year (about 1000 bales) with no problems. Now I...

    Timing a 4020 injector pump

I believe that you are right grwrench. I started to place the inj. pump in last night and the way you described how the slot needs to be will allow for the inj. pump to be in time. I have a couple of service manuals and found this picture. Thanks everyone.

    Timing a 4020 injector pump

Thanks Dieseltech. Yes, I still have the front timing cover off and I verified timing marks are correct and TDC on the flywheel is also correct. Thanks again. I am going to try and finish this rebuild. Gary

    Timing a 4020 injector pump

1970 JD 4020, following the service manual with clocking the oil pump and how the oil pump should be positioned after installed, I am still not sure if I am right. The manual states that the slot in the oil pump gear should be at a 15 degrees from being parallel to the cam and the notch in the...

    Re: JD 4020 loader

The NH has a single acting cylinder. Yesterday I pulled a hay rake which is ground driven for almost three hours and hydraulic temp didn’t rise more than a quarter of the gage. Purchased an ir thermometer and after raking, oil cooler and reservoir 105F. Steering unit and valve by the oil filter...

    JD 4020 loader

Hello all. I really need some help. I still have the pump quitting when the clutch is depressed but now after running a 615 new holland disc mower for about an hour, the hydraulic temperature slowly rises to the red area on the gauge. All new fluid, screen and filter. A friend told me the pump...

    JD 4020 loader

Power beyond block was easy enough and I was able to plumb under the platform so a good clean install. I have everything running however when I use the loader with my hay grapple on front, I loose hydraulic pressure after a few seconds of the clutch being depressed. No brakes, steering either...

    4020 won't start

Bought a 1970 JD4020 diesel about a month ago and have started it once every week just to see if there were going to be problems. I have no alt light when I turn key on. With key on, solenoid, alt and power terminal on key switch has 12 volts. With key switch to on, less than a volt to the alt...

    rear cast wheels

I have a 3010 gas which has 36" rear tires. I have a chance to buy tires, rims and cast wheels which are 18.4 x 34 off of a 4020. My question is can I use the wedges from the 3010 wheels to replace the 4020 wedges? Also, is a 18.4 x 34 too big for a 3010? Thanks.
