    timing a gator

I was able to get a new engine for my gator from Green Dealer (Arends Bros LLC) Ashmore, IL (1-800-233-5431). They carry all type parts for JD Utility, Gators and Lawn and Garden. The Parts Man was very helpful and everything he told me was true. Got the engine for about a 3rd what JD wanted. Harley

    Update on New Gator Engine

The question that I posted was what would cause the engine to smother when I connected the air intake. The answer I got along with all those I talked to was there was some type restriction to the air intake. I was trying to share the fact that in this case it was getting to much air. Sorry I was...

    Update on New Gator Engine

A couple weeks ago I posted a question concerning a new engine I put in my 4X2 JD Gator. It was identical to the one that came with it. After installing the new engine, it cranked and ran perfect until you put the air intake hose to the carb, then it began to smother down just like if you placed...

    What I Found Today

I would never have guessed what it was. I have some old tools hanging on the wall of a cabin in the back yard that I have no idea what they were used for. Some of them belonged to my Grandfather who died when I was very young. It is very interesting to see how they came up with ways to make life...

    Gator Question

That was our first reaction. However, you can take the breather off, remove the filter and just put the shell on the carb and it will do the same thing. You can blow through the breather shell and feel the air flow. Harley

    Gator Question

Replaced the locked up engine with a new complete engine. It cranked right off, but when you connect the air breather to the carb it begins to go dead. We tried just the breather shell without the filter in it and it does the same thing. Even when it is removed from the frame. The engine came...

    Gator Locked Up

Thanks for the input. I found one at The Green Dealer that is suppose to be complete, just lift the old one out and set the new one in for a lot less than JD. I pray that it is what the young man told me on the phone. I had never heard of this Co, but appears they carried a lot of JD parts...

    Gator Locked Up

I bragged to this forum a few weeks ago about my 4x2 gator. Well it put me down Sat while riding my 3 yr old Grandson. The motor locked up. All I can figure is that My older Grandson had been mud riding and possibly gotten mud in the breather pipe and it caused it to pump the oil out. I have...

    Gator gear grinding...normal?

Don't get in a hurry to shift. I have one that I purchased in 1994, seven grandchildren have learned to drive on it, 2 sons used it to deer hunt and I use it everyday if nothing just go down to the barn to look at the old tractors. Never failed to crank instantly and have piled dirt on the bed...

Kawasaki or Briggs and Stratton engine in a zero turn.

I have a JD gator that has the 17 HP Kaw that I bought in 1995 and believe me it has been used. Only thing I have done other than regular service is replace an electric chip on top of the motor that cost about $40.00 bucks. Always starts immediately. Harley

    4200 Utility Lift (corrected)

Thanks Tx Jim for the info. That sounds to complicated for a non-mechanic like me. Guess it is off to the repair shop. Harley

    4200 Utility Lift (corrected)

Buickanddeere, I am not sure, but will take a look at it and also, check the operator's manual. I did check to see if the up and down leaver was connected and it appears to be moving where it goes into the housing. Thanks again for the suggestion. Harley
