    Seems that I found the squeal. And I was right all along, the carb gasket, cork, had a break in it and was leaking air, same as a vacuum leak, but larger.     I'll have to try to find a pressure gauge and fittings for this. I have original owners manual, and don't see any pressure readings either.

    Is it common for the pump on Cub to squeal. I think not. Sounds a little like a common vacuum leak on carburetors. Fluid is full. Does work but squeals.

    If you have the parts catalog downloaded go to page 35-6, 35-7 I think you'll see that the seal you are looking for will be there AM 939 T. Looks like the same seal was used for most of the 420's
