    Power Steering

I took off the cylinder and took it apart, and heck it is hard to tell if its ok or not. The o-rings are good, but they are just to prevent leaking at the ends. Putting air pressure on it and sliding the control, it switches output between ports going to the cylinder, but if I just cover the...

    Power Steering

I have a Case 530 TLB, and the power steering is not working. no leaks, pump seems to work, the control stud moves, but no power. I'm not sure how to diagnose it, and concerned if I take apart the power cylinder, no parts are available to fix it? advice?

    Case 530 Dash / Gauges

Here is the finished custom gauge panel. I used three 2-line LCDs that display bargraphs, the RPM display also displays the RPM in text. While I spent less than $50 on it using my surplus parts, it was a heck of a lot of work for sure.

    Parting out my old 430

sorry to hear of your accident, glad that you are OK. Can you say what happened, why it rolled over?

    Case 530 Dash / Gauges

thanks for finding that. I'm sure a reasonable cost to refab the old dash would cost more than the tractor..which is what I'd expect to pay for that kind of craftsmanship. but more than cost, i didn't like the look of the originals anyway, and probably isn't compatible with newer sensors too...

    Case 530 Dash / Gauges

The gauges on my Case 530 are not only not working, but they look so sad. What should I do to make it look good? I don"t want to go overboard on this little sub-project, but something needs to be done, and just getting some round gauges to replace the stock bezel is not one of them. What...

    1942 Case VC12 tractor- PointsCondenser

You can find descriptions for cars online, it is the same, but I'll explain the theory if it helps. The coil is a transformer with two windings, primary and secondary, the primary charges up when 12v is on and the points are closed, then the points open breaking the ground path of the primary...

159 Gas Engine running too rich?

If the distributor bushing is badly worn like mine was, the points would not operate correctly and it would not fire the coil consistently, and thus the fuel isn't getting burned. Do the points look bad? Generally though, the last thing you did to it is most often what is the problem, so I...

Case 530 159 gas timing mark

I've been working on replacing the distributor in the 159 gas motor, the old one was shot. I modified a 70 Dodge distributor, and use Ford electronic ignition parts do make a distributorless coil-on-plug ignition. I'm trying to determine where the timing mark is located. I see nothing. There...

530 hydraulic loader control valve leaks

Thanks for the info Mr. Nutty! Do I have to remove the valve? As you can see, it has a zillion hoses connected, and a few are hardline. Can I just leave it in place and remove the spools?

530 hydraulic loader control valve leaks

I don't know what model the loader is, or the backhoe either. Yeah, no tag next to the dash. No one knows how to take apart this control? There is some plastic or rubber cover in the back of the control spools, do I remove it, and unscrew something, and then the spools just come out?

530 hydraulic loader control valve leaks

The loader controls leak. Fluid leaks of the front of the control shaft in both. Also in the back of what I think is the pressure relief spool, it drips pretty badly. As a newbie, I don't have experience working on hhydraulics. I've searched the web, but to my surprise, haven't found anything...

    case 310B brakes

thanks, I went under it today and sure enough it has a little wedge that locks that pedal down. It just isn't a very positive locking feel with your foot when I move the lever, but it does stop it from rolling, so I guess good enough, and it isn't broken. BTW, after removing some paint, it has...

    Paint Worth the Effort?

well, I can't resist and am going to repaint it, but I will not do a tear down. I have removed the easy panels, the rest I'm putting stripper on and will then try to take off as much old paint (it has three layers) using a pressure washer. Then carefully spray it. At least it won't look all...

    Paint Worth the Effort?

I recently acquired an old Case 310B to do the dirt work on my lot. figured a lot better to buy and then sell when done with the house. My question is whether I should bother to repaint this tractor backhoe? Previous owner did a bad job repainting it, no prep obviously, and it is peeling all...
