    Mr. Schwiebert: I took a brass punch and tapped the end cap it. It revealed the keeper ring.     I have a Oliver equipment cylinder that has blown out the front seal. I find the number HD 66 29 on it. It has the valve mounted on it to limit stroke. Probably was used on a plough.     Mushrooms growing in a large circle

    My thoughts. I've seen this before as well. I think if you look you will find a rodent hole in the center area. I believe this ring is the area where the rodent marks it area or pees. Just a thought, don't know if its true.

    Would have some one shorten it so that to increase PTO clearance? Maybe they had hilly property and were afraid it would bind up on the PTO. This way it would have a bit more clearance? Just a thought.
