    24 volt gurus?

    That sounds good but unfortunately the system doesn't work that way. When the tractor is running, the generator is the source of voltage and amperage. Obviously the generator doesn't charge both positive and negative at the same time! Read the articles!

    620 ignition timing

    Deere and Company paid their engineers a lot of money to figure out optimum timing. The correct timing for a 620 gas tractor is 0 degrees at idle and 20 degrees at wide open throttle. Ears make poor timing lights!

    What is the purpose of the little metal pot on top of a JD 630 carburetor? A 530 doesn't have one and neither does a 620. How is the fuel tank on the 630 vented? The 530 has a vent tube.

    Re: 24 Volt Service Bulletin #268 in pdf format

    The bulletin has some good details and a good wiring diagram. However, it over simplifies the theory of operation to the point that it is misleading. For a better explanation with pictures call Richard at Green Magazine and ask for my 24 Volt article in the November 2012 issue.
