    I can post some pictures and get some measurements if you want to try and build one. I am pretty sure it is made from 2" x 1/2" flat stock... These guys are right, pretty hard to come by....Lucky mine had it all there....

    Looks like a great project. I have a 1953 40 S also. Here is a picture after an engine rebuild, newer tires and mechanical work. Still need to get it painted..

    Computer Experts.............

    Look into Windows Virtual PC. Lets you run XP without having to purchase a license. However, you need Windows 7 Pro or higher to install the virtual PC software. Easier than a dual boot machine because you can switch whenever you want...

    1953 John Deere 40-S restoration advice

    Looks like that is in pretty good shape. Can you post up some pictures of the implements too? Here is my 1953 40-S with disk. I have some cosmetic things to do, as you can see. But it has been gone through mechanically and works great.

    valve cover gasket 50 520 same????

    The part numbers in the books are different. 520 and 530 are the same, but the 50 is not... Maybe they supercede to the same number now. But did not check on jdparts.com

    When did Deere switch from 6 to 12 volt systems ?

    I think the 50 was the first tractor to come out with 12 volt, two 6's in series.. I dont know about the late G's...

    Oil Change on a 50 John Deere

    We run 10W-30 in all of our old two-cylinders. I think most of the owner's manuals would indicate 20W or 30W for most conditions. I usually run Tractor Supply brand...

    Where can I get a belt pulley rebuilt (fiber type)

    Let's see. 350.00 for a used one on auction site vs. 125.00 for a new one from Paper Pulleys. You decide which is cheaper. This example is for a John Deere M.

    John Deere 290 Planter Restoration (PICS)

    The marker arms are identical to the ones I have for an ABG 540 lister. I am missing a few pieces from mine, so if they are not the correct ones for your 290, I might be interested in aquiring them from you.
