    Welcome to the 8-16 restoration club... I am currently doing a 1917/18 VB series, and a 1922 IC series. Interesting tractors.. What series is yours? VB, HC, IC?? Engine parts will vary by series.

    the pistons in your tractor have the 3/16 ring grooves. Inside the piston by the pin boss area will be a number. This will be the part number of the piston

    you will first need to know if it is the IH overbore sleeve, or the aftermarket overbore sleeve. They are different in the flange height, and the head gasket that they use.

    that was a stamping done in inspection at Thompson Products, the manufacturer of those sleeve assemblies for IH. The different letters are for sizing classifications. At that time TP was trying to class and size the sleeves and pistons to as close of a matching tolerance as they could. There...

    Questions on '39 H

    I have serial number 700, and it is only stamped on the block and side rail. The clutch housing was never drilled for a serial tag. I have seen Hs without provisions for a tag to about 1000, and the highest M I have seen without a tag is around 750..

    your "parts dealer" doesn't have a clue. He is assuming that you have a Case 400 Diesel, not the IH Farmall 400 Diesel.
