850 regulator follow up
Took the gen and all regulators to a shop and all checked out OK. Ran a ground wire from batt cable to reg. Viola! It's fixed. Never would've figured the steering post which is pressed into the steering gear box to which the batt. cable is bolted would not be grounded. Especially after ohming... -

The batt. is brand new. The vom is a $200 Beckman digital. Amperage stays high. Don't know about the gen. It was on the tractor when I bought it. -

Thanks for all the help thus far folks. But we're still not there. Batt. voltage is 6.8. When running it's 8.6 and goes to 9.2 within 1 minute so I shut it down. So I replaced all wiring into and out of gen. and reg. with 10ga. Both new regulators do the same thing although one bounces the... -

850 charging prob revisited
Got my second regulator installed and still have the same problem although not as bad. Ampmeter shows 12-15 amps with a new battery. I can push gently on either coil and switch current on and off so don't think it's stuck. The longer it runs the higher the reading till it's pegged. The meter... -

Called the vendor and they are sending another regulator. The batt. is brand new so should stay up for the 1 1/2 hr. job. Hope the second one works. ( made in India ) Thanks again for the help. -

If I leave the field wire disconnected can I use the tractor? I gotta mow or I'll have to bale it! -

Thanks soundguy. Pulled the field wire and there is no charge. Ohmed out between field and arm term., and wires and found no shorts. Gen is orig. Not sure what B circuit reg. is, but ordered it from this site. -

Finally got around to replacing the regulator which fixed the no charge prob. Problem now is as rpms increase so does the charge till the Amp meter is pegged and regulator is getting hot. Now what? And thanks to the two folks that helped me diagnose the orig. prob. I can't find the post and... -

Volt. Regulator
My 850 isn't charging. Generator is OK. The wiring checks out against the schematic. But the reg. that's on the tractor has 3 coils, not 2 coils like the schematic calls for. How can I troubleshoot this problem? -

Grain drill parts
I have a Cockshutt Mod 110 grain drill that needs new rubber drop tubes. I haven't had any luck finding them. Can anyone help me? Thanks, Ken- Ken Oh.
