    Ford 861 problems

    My Ford diesel 861 tractor: 1. left brake locks up. Is it necessary to remove the tire and hub to make repairs? 2. The three point hydraulic lift rise when nothing attached. But will not lift any equip like a back blade, etc. Any recommendations? Ken Sikora

    Distributor is side mount. Engine will turnover as normal but will drain the battery if I hold the key to start. Something heats up and locks up (?). Ken

    After using the tractor however long, if I shut it off and come back to it in 2-3 min, it will not start until after its cooled down in an hour. I changed the points but it made no difference. What to do?

    JD 450C dozer

    The dozer always starts easily. Formerly would run excellently for 15 minutes and then the engine starts to hunt - rpm goes up and down - to where it cant be used. Now it will only run 5 min. After 4-5 hours I use it again for the short time. Something is heating up and causing the problem...

    John Deere 450C

    I have a JD 450C that will only operate for 15-20 minutes and then the rpms go up and down and is close to no power at all. The fuel filter was changed, and the injector pump was rebuilt. What lets the dozer operate for the short time before losing power? Thanks for any response! Ken

    Hyd lift on a Ford 861

    After replacing the cam follower pin under the top cover, the arms did lift all the way. Then after some use it kept rising less. Now it wont lift at all. Fluid level is good.

    Thank you, but I cant connect with what the pictures are showing. Are they of the hydraulic pump on the side of the tractor, or of the components under the lid below the seat? My diagrams dont point out an unloaded valve. Ken

    Ive checked the hydraulic pump discharge and oil comes out of the hex head plug. Ive changed the follower pin in the lid above the hydraulic oil reservoir. What else could it be? Thank you for any response! Ken

    I changed the pin riding the cam and then reinstalled the hydraulic cover, but the problem hasnt gone away. Is it the hydraulic pump that needs replacement and how do I test it to know for sure? Ken

    Most everything has been replaced except the body. I even took the castings to a machine shop to level the surfaces, thinking there may have been some imperfections. It doesnt seem to make a difference. With a new carburetor, I was able to move some dirt for about 15 min and then the motor...
