    SC head casting numbers

The 5618 head is the low compression head. The 5617 is the high compression head. You will be much happier with the 5617. I have replaced most of my 5618's. The valves are the same, only the combustion area is different. It is easy to tell by looking.

Case SC brake diff shaft oil seal

The splines can be sharp and it is real easy to damage a new seal without wrapping the splines with tape. The same applies to DC'S.

    C and DC head

If the pistons do not go higher than the top of the block, a 5505 head will bolt right on. So will a 5576 depending on what type of pistons are in it. The C does not provide an oil passage to the rockers. A modification would have to be made to do this. I helped my neighbor put a DC head on his...

    DC PISTONS

I have a set of new old stock DC pistons I bought at a sale, 4" aluminum. They extend above the block .110. Were these the high altitude pistons that were ment to be used with the 5576 head? What kind of horse power did they produce? Would this setup be equal to 4" flat tops that are even with...

    REMOVE AND REPLACE DC CARBURETOR.

WHAT IS THE EASIEST WAY TO R5EMOVE AND REPLACE THE CARB ON A DC. i HATE THAT JOB BUT CAN'T PUT IT OFF ANY LONGER. I HAVE BEEN REMOVING ALL THE BOLTS THAT ATTACH THE CARB BUT IT TAKES FOREVER TO GET THE INSIDE BOLT INTO THE AIR CLEANER ELBOW. I AM HANDICAPOPED AND HAVE TO DO EVERYTHING RIGHT...

Case DC vs JD 60 vs wd45

I have a '51 DC with 4" aluminum pistons, 5505 head, and Marval Shebler carburetor. I pull 3-14's in second gear. I have one weight on each side and 13.6 Titan tires. Eventually I will pull up behind a 60 JD and have to throttle back. My old DC delivers almost 51 HP on a dino. I run second...

    Case S Stuck Valve

I had an SE unit doing the same thing. I clamped a good vice grip onto the retainer and twisted back and forth while applying Marval Mistery oil on the stem. When I got it almost all the way back up I applied more oil and smacked it with a hammer until it kept coming all the way up. I ran the...

SC BORE DIA. OF LARGE END.

A friend is rebuilding a '44 SC and needs to know what the factory diameter of the large end of the connecting rod is. His rods are out of round and need to be re-sized. I do not recall seeing this specification in any manuals. Thanks.

    DC Problem

I would never pull a tractor with a stuck engine, especially a D series. The rods a quite long and bending them is quite possible. Remove the valve cover to see if they are free by tapping each valve with a hammer. If they won't go down, remove the head. Use PB Blaster liberally and leave the...

Up date on rough running SC

I have found that once you flood the engine [SC] the plugs will not fire right again even if they are new. Even drying them out with a torch will not help. It must be the stuff in the new gas.

    BIG 400 LP ENGINE

I JUST PICKED UP A BIG 400 LP ENGINE FOR MY 400 TRACTOR. I WOULD LIKE TO RUN IT BEFORE I PUT IT ON. WHAT KIND OF LINES AND GAS PRESSURE WILL MAKE IT WORK. IT HAS A REGULATOR IN FRONT OF THE CARBURETOR AND IS A COMPLETE INSIGN UNIT. IT IS ALL LP WITH NO GAS CARBURETOR. I WILL SWITCH IT TO...
