    2440 diesel stalls when trying to move in high range

    2440 engine runs fine when transmission is in neutral. Will move ok in first gear. When try to go in fifth gear the engine sputters then quits. Will start right back up. In general, when I try to move it the engine stumbles and shuts off.

    JD 2640 safety switch location

    Starter and selinoid are good. Thinking the starter safety switch could be a problem. Ignition switch lights panel lights and head lights. Where is the starter safety switch located? Thanks, Lee

    snow plow for 2640

    Anyone have experience putting a 4-way hydraulic plow on a 2640? What make and model should I look for? Saw a Degelman Model 00423 advertised for other JD models but don"t know if it would fit a 2640. I expect hydraulic specs could vary as well as the mounting arrangement. Thanks, Lee

    Update and question on 2640 hydraulic problem

    Replaced hydraulic filter and cleaned screen (not very dirty) and still wouldn"t work. Turns out the splines in the pump drive coupler are stripped. The shaft splines seem ok. So a new T22915 along with bushings is needed. Would like to use OEM but looks like price is twice as much as others on...

    Ahh, got it this time. Saw that underneath but wasn't positive that was the filter. Bought the 2640 used last year and it works great on my mower conditioner. Thanks again Lee

    Follow up to my earlier post. Need to replace hydraulic filter (probably)and check sump screen. My IT shop manual doesn"t show where the filter is located. Any hints? Do I need to drain out all the oil for this filter replacement? I see where the sump plug is with the 1/2" square in the cap...

    My 966 has two sets of auxiliary hydraulic outlets in the back which I've only used for cylinder control. I'm looking at a used stone picker with a hydraulically driven pickup reel. Is it possible to adjust the control lever to allow constant flow to the hydraulic motor? I haven't felt an open...

    Model 33 grain drill parts

    I"m looking for parts for the Model 33 drill. They could be new or used. Looking for a couple conductor boots fastened below the grain/fertilizer box, acreage meter assembly and a grain box agitator. No dealer close by anymore. Any thoughts on salvage sites? Thanks.
