    9n starter w/drive installation

    wow, this new starter is heavy :) got all contact surfaces cleaned and ready. those two nuts on the long mounting bolts, once removed will the starter stay together ? read Bruce's Tip # 36 and got to wondering. thanks for all the good help....

    thanks CJ in Michigan gas is part old and part new ( mostly old ) spark is good at plugs...jumps 1/4 inch will have to study up on checking compression :)

    here's my story and I'm sticking to it :) transported old 9N 200 miles with gas in tank. she cranked before the move and now will not start unless i use starting fluid sprayed @ intake. Wondering to drain gas tank or clean carb or both. runs great once started with ether. thanks for any an all...

    you're right 'bout that JMOR :)) dang...it measured 1-2" on my gas stick, oh well its back to the drawing board as it won't start again after sitting for about 1 hr :( i love her anyway :)

    woo hoo !! she's running ! my guess is the gas was flowing from the reserve and not flowing steady. add 1-2 gallons and stayed off the choke and she fired right up...love that sound ! thanks for all the help !

    thanks Bruce as for fuel at the right mixture, how does one determine if the fuel flow is at the "right mixture" am assuming the adjustment screws on the carb determine "right mixture" i believe mine are backed out one full turn from closed...sound right ? thank you

    thanks Doug12 it ran well for about 1 hour and then while pulling a load, sputtered and puffed like it wasn't getting gas and then stopped. been sitting for 5 days. at least it stopped under a shade tree :) wondering if i need to hold the choke closed while trying to start...or if that is...

    the old 9n is close to firing up. it's got gas that runs out carb at drain plug it's got fire to he plugs it turns over strong and huffs and puffs and almost runs still a piece of the puzzle missing.... any ideas...thanks to all who comment

    thanks Paul for your reply. yes, this tractor has been converted to 12 volts this part was hot as a match when i tried to crank today....first time that's happened. engine would not turn over...that's a first too

    need ID on part that is behind dash about the size of a quarter with two terminals and a spring curled to each terminal in the shape of a C....there is a wire from the switch and another wire (not sure what) going to the terminals. tried to start tractor today to check fire and this part was HOT...
