    Case IH 685 XL - A/C Question

Thank you. Called a CaseIH dealer and found that it is about $700 in parts to convert over to R134. Also did some poking around in the European parts websites and it seems that this machine was made in and for England. Looks like the International 685XL was made from 81-85 ending in serial...

    Case IH 685 XL - A/C Question

Ran across a 1985 685 XL today, (serial number was in the 4000"s but all the books say the 685 starts at 15000 so not sure what that"s all about.) Local trade from a dairy farmer. MFWD, nice cab, 8x4 w/electric t/a (no shuttle though) and adjustable rear axles (kinda of rare on the 85 series...

Please help identify this Case planter

The only identifying marks on this is "CASE" stamped in the one lid. It does have various #'s stamped in the cast housings. It has medium corn plates in it now. What model is this and when was it built?

(OT) Seat Time could of gone real bad

Had my 9N out today after taking down the paint booth and a good general cleaning around the house, relocated the Bush hog and Bottom plow, put the blade on last and decided seeing how it cooled down after working all day that I would go enjoy the 9N out for a little work out so I start dragging...

A stephead pistons vs. flat head pistons

I'm thinking of swapping out flathead pistons for the stepped head for more compression. Does anybody know if there would be any issues in combustion chamber clearance if used with a distilate cyl. head? C-113 Distilate 1947 A model.

    40-50hp tractor for hills?

Thanks for the comments. We have looked at new (Kubota, CIH, NH, JD) and there are some good deals to be had for sure but not ready for payments on that level. We lost our closest JD ag dealer so that leaves Kubota and CIH/NH close by (Zetor, Mahrinda, Montana are far away.) Sold the Ford...

    40-50hp tractor for hills?

Time to replace our ageing Farmall 460 and Ford (4cyl.) 4000 with something newer. Looking not to spend over 15k. We have lots of hills and lots of wet low ground. Love the sound of that 6cyl. 460 but too big for what we use it for. 80 acres (50 woods, 20 swamp/house/yard, 10 tillable.)...

    Unicycle...Dumb Question

I am assembling the basket case unicycle which was given to me several yars ago. In fastening the peddle cranks I am unable to get them exactly opposite each other. It appears as though the axle is bent, which seems HIGHLY unlikely. The cranks DO need to form a 180 degree angle, RIGHT...

    Re: CIH8430/H530/M1734 vs. CIH3450/NI484 balers pros/cons

Hi John, Well we are in the same boat! Or close I guess. I have square baled forever but this past fall my help has had some health issues and likely will not have any help next year so I am looking at going round. I have a 42HP tractor w/loader and also want to stay with the smaller bales...
