    Bears - Wolves - Alligators

My wife and I saw these two while riding bikes at Elm Creek Park reserve. It’s just on the outskirts of Minneapolis. We have lots of coyotes around here but that’s about it. A lot of yipping at night. Bear sightings seem to be getting more common.

Anyone need a new tailgate for early 70s chev pickup

No. But I’m looking for a hood for a 44 John Deere B. Where is the salvage yard at?

    2N work light

I only have the headlight switch on the left side of the dash. The wiring ran back to the work light in the back also. So when the headlight switch was on, all three lights came on. It also has a tail light. I have wiring schematics and photos on how to wire it once I’m done painting it with a...

    2N work light

Does anyone know if the early work lights on the 9N and 2N tractors did not have a switch on them. I noticed on the 2N’s I have neither of the work lights have a light switch. My Neighbors has a switch on his 8N work light. I’m thinking that maybe the switch came out later on. I’m pretty sure...

    Sherman step up transmission gaskets

I’m starting a new project a 2N Ford. I bought it as a parts tractor. turns out it’s in better shape than the tractor I was trying to restore. So I’m using the old Tractor for mowing with a brush hog. And restoring this new tractor. I had to put a new ring gear in it to see if it would start. I...

    Piston ring update.

Well, I installed the rings that Duner Wi found for me on eBay. They did the trick. I started up the tractor last night and no smoke. It appears that the original rings in the tractor where standard sized put on .030 over pistons. So thanks everyone for helping me resolve this issue. Hopefully...

    Ball hone grit

I was gonna post this over on the 2N ford board, but I figured I would post it here because there’s probably more chance of getting an answer from different people. I am re-ringing a 2N Ford tractor. I am going to use a ball hone to hone the cylinders. I usually use my brother-in-law‘s ball hone...

    2N piston rings source

I guess it’s a little too late to call them now. I already have rings coming. Supposed to be here on Thursday.

    2N piston rings source

Dennis I checked the ring clearance and the grooves were good. The top ring was worn some but the new rings should cure that problem.

    2N piston rings source

Well, I went ahead and ordered them rings. Hopefully they’ll do the trick. Thanks again Duner Wi for helping me find the parts.

    2N piston rings source

I haven’t checked the ring to piston groove. Next time I get out in the shop, I’ll have to check that in one of the Pistons

    2N piston rings source

Those appear to be the correct dimensions. I guess it doesn’t matter what the rings are made for just as long as the rings are correct size

    2N piston rings source

I measured the ring end gap and they are way out of whack. .080. Makes me think they might’ve put standard rings in the tractor.

    2N piston rings source

I’ve looked at Mercury parts. Oil control ring gaps are not the same on the three ring earlier pistons. The 8ba engines have the right oil ring gap but they are a four ring piston.

    2N piston rings source

That might be an option. I looked down below and they had a box that was standard by the same part number. They said that the rings were for an Oldsmobile! So it makes me a little leery. Another option would be just replacing the pistons with new ones. I found .030 over size 4 ring pistons but...
