    IH350 oil pump and pressure

Will a IH or farmall build much oil pressure just by cranking. Does the tractor need to be running to see much oil pressure? If you have low oil pressure what would you check first? Wear on mains? Wear on rods? Wear in oil pump? Plugged oil passages? Oil flow to rocket arms?

    Cracks behind sleeves IH350 block

Pulled the sleeves on the IH350 C175 engine. Was cleaning the surface of the engine block wall in preparation for installation of new sleeves. Then I felt an uneven spot. Upon close inspection I found cracks in 3 of the 4 holes. Some horizontal, some vertical. These are dry sleeves. There...

    Dry sleeve installation methods

Will be installing dry sleeves in an IH 350. I will clean up cylinder walls of block with paint thinner or equivalent and clean ridge at top. I have looked at a lot of videos showing various methods of installing dry sleeves. 1) use dry ice to freeze sleeves. Then drop and tap in 2) put...

Keeping nuts tight in vibration areas

Nut is 1-7/16 It is only 3/8 thick. So that could be a problem for a set screw. Of course it might not take much.

Keeping nuts tight in vibration areas

My specific problem is the nut on the camshaft for IH300 and 350 engines. It’s a known problem on these engines that nut will come loose and then the camshaft gear comes loose and then things break. I have read that the hydraulic pump that runs off these gear set in front of engine can cause a...

    IH 300 u expansion plug

On the IH 300/350 there is an expansion/freeze plug in the end of the block covering the end of the cam shaft. The part number on the plug I took out is 1014 and is labeled as 1 5/8. Do not know if that is an IH part number or 3rd party. I went to 4 auto dealers with no luck. Look up Dorman...

Ordered new cam bearings for IH350 and need to remove old and install the new. Watched several You Tube videos and tools they used. Plan to order tool today. There is a cap in the end of the block that I assume was used for machining and also for removing the end cam shaft bearing. Can that...

    IH350u oil pump

Pull the oil pump on the C175 engine out of the IH350U. Removing the bottom cover there was quite a bit of side to side play. Pulled out the driven gear and shaft. Found about 0.025 of the driven shaft worn away right behind the gear where it goes through the oil pump housing. Expected to see...

    Locking tabs on connecting rods

I have an iH350U that I pulled the engine and pulled connecting rod caps from to inspect bearings. The engine used locking tabs on the nuts for the connecting rods to prevent them from loosing. The main bearings do not. With Loctite and proper torque if are the locking tabs still needed?
