    9N/2N vs 8N governor

I should ask, can 9N/2N levers be used with the 8N (proofmeter boss) housing?

    9N/2N vs 8N governor

Thanks for the pics, Royse. The levers on this one are about 90 degrees apart, similar to the 9N/2N picture. However, the levers are rotated clockwise about 3/4" compared to the governor that was taken off. It almost has me wondering if the fork was put backwards on the shaft inside of the...

    9N/2N vs 8N governor

Other than the proofmeter boss (and indexing of levers), they look similar.

    9N/2N vs 8N governor

Helping a friend work on a 9N/2N. He bought a "new" governor and the arms do not line up with the previous one when installed. The arm that connects to the carb linkage is off by about 3/4" (putting carb at wide open throttle when it should be closed). Additionally, the throttle lever at the...

tie rod nut end hitting radius bar

Replaced a tie rod end on a 9N and had the same issue. The spindle arm had been broken and welded (not quite straight). Grinding a few threads off the tie rod pin solved the problem.

Little screw press bead breakers any good?

Kyle, I'll second Royse, I bought the same tool and changed a tire with the rim still on the tractor without any difficulty. Also, get yourself a valve fishing tool with a long length on it.

ring gear heating methods that have worked for you

I used a bbq grill. Set the ring gear right into the lump hardwood coals, after a couple of minutes the gear was red hot and dropped right on the flywheel.

    NAA clutch job parts list?

Below is a link to photos on an 850 clutch job (courtesy of Jim UT ?), I found this quite helpful when I replaced my NAA clutch. There was no need to undo the steering links. Royse is correct, a pilot bearing is a good idea (note, NAA uses a different size bearing than what comes in the 9N/8N...

    Air cleaner

Tip for getting the mesh back into filter housing after cleaning.... Wrap duct tape around the tube end and make a "cone" for the mesh to slide over (helps stop the mesh from hanging up on tube end).

    Cheap ORCs?

Purchased one of the "cheap" plated overrun couplers this spring, $34. 20hrs on it so far with a rotary cutter and a finish mower with no problems.
