Best way to prevent lateral t point movement

Just one other comment about sway bars. When brush hogging in wildly overgrown areas, the lynch pin holding the sway bar under the axle is going to eventually be unhooked and lost, leaving the sway bar to flip under the brush hog you are using and being folded into a pretzel. It is annoying, but...

Is the throttle lever suppose to lock...

Gilbert, I had the identical problem with a '63 mf-35. The linkage at the bottom of the throttle lever is held on by a small nut (1/4-20 I think) and in my case, the threads went too far through the nut and would get bound up on the 'stops' at the bottom of the throttle lever. I took the nut...

    Hydraulics are stuck up

On my MF-35. Took off the side cover(s) and tried to move the linkage manually. Lift arms still will not go down. I&T manual says it must be a broken spring in control valve. Is this removable/replaceable through the side covers? Anything else to check first?

    transmission howl

John, using the radius arms for levers is a stroke of genius! I've got the afternoon off. Going to pull out the main seal today. Ordered other parts today, including remanufactured clutch. The old was oil soaked. Didn't feel like splitting the tractor a second time if I couldn't get all the oil...

    transmission howl

Thank you, John. It will be a week or so, depending on parts availability, before I can replace the rear main, release and pilot for the clutch. I'm trying an automotive supplier since the service at the local AGCO is less than stellar. I'm trying to decide if I should replace the clutch shaft...

    transmission howl

John (UK), The noise just seemed too loud and too far back to be the countershaft bearings. But as I look at the drawings, it could well be the bearings on the pinion shaft, especially the pilot. Since the shaft would be moving in the opposite direction, the forces would be changed 180 deg. as...

    draw bar

Those drawbars can be had at most farm supply stores. Where are you at in MO? Anywhere near Rolla? The Family Center is a good place to shop. I'm in Bourbon, just off I-44. I can lend you one for awhile if you need it asap. Let me know. 573-259-9787

    update on PTO shaft

Elvin, congratulations. I'm glad you (or your dad) got the shaft freed up. My dad wouldn't let me work on his tractors since I seized up the Farmall H when I was 12 yrs. old. By the time I got a few tractors of my own he wasn't much able to help. But he did get a kick out of the fact that I have...

    PTO shaft

Don, you are exactly right! When I replaced mine, I jammed the shaft in the bushing first, so had to cut it and then drive it out. In this case, he should be able to cut the shaft close, pull the pump, and simply slide the remainder out the other side. And yes, it took a lot longer to clean the...

    transmission howl

This is my brand new '63 MF-35. It's split in half for a rear main seal and a clutch plate. I put in new spindle bushings and bearings. PTO seal was replaced. Needs a pivot pin and bush. Lower lift arm pin (in trumpet) needs replaced. All the fluids were filthy. The left fender is wrinkled...

    PTO shaft

had the same thing with my 20. The shaft was twisted from running a brush hog over stumps and rocks. Had to pull the cover and cut the shaft off with a sawzall close to the pump, pull the pump and then drive the shaft out the opposite way. I had fashioned a makeshift puller and wound up breaking...

    transmission howl

The transmission in my MF-35 howls when in REVERSE, especially under load. It is evident in both hi and lo range. Nothing at all in any forward speeds. I cannot tell if the noise is coming from the transmission or the differential; PTO makes no difference to the noise. Has anyone experienced...
