Hydraulics are stuck up

On my MF-35. Took off the side cover(s) and tried to move the linkage manually. Lift arms still will not go down. I&T manual says it must be a broken spring in control valve. Is this removable/replaceable through the side covers? Anything else to check first?

no its not you will have to split the tractor between the rear of trans and diff . the pump has to be removed and disassembled to replace the control valve .

Hi,
On the 35 failure of the arms to go down is likely to be a broken oscillator. Early tractors had an aluminium one, later had a metal one. This is the link between the pump shaft and control valve housing and oscillates back and forth to prevent the control valve sticking.
Unless your tractor is an independant PTO it is not necessary to split it between the transmission and centre case. You will however need to remove the hydraulic cover and pump. The oscillator is located ubderneath the pump.

No, David is right, you can remove the complete pump to check for either a stuck valve, or a broken oscillator. After removing the top hydraulic cover, and then the drive, or "shear" tube, you can then remove the pump locating dowels, and P.T.O. shaft. Then, there is enough room to 'weasel" the pump out of the centre housing to repair the pump from there.
regards, Evan.
