'66 4020 Shift Will Not Move

I went back out to the tractor the other day to make a run at freeing this up. I gave the tractor a slight tug from my truck on a whim and it cured whatever ailed it. I think there was some loading on there that jostling by hand couldn't relieve. Anyway, thank you for the input! Now on to...

'66 4020 Shift Will Not Move

1966 4020 Powershift; Less than 100 hrs on engine, hydraulics, and clutch rebuild. Tractor worked superbly when it was last run Nov 22. Currently upgrading my battery game, will save that for another story. No starting power at the moment, and I need to move the tractor out of the way by...

    4020D Sleeve O-ring Pitting

When I first started looking into this, I thought of using JB or epoxy or some other thing. After 3 seconds of thinking about it, I told myself "no way". Then I posted the prob here and viola, the most popular response has been clean it, fill it, and stuff everything back together.

    4020D Sleeve O-ring Pitting

I posted this in the proper place and I have a few responses to the same effect. It seems pretty pitted up to me, but I only have 1 data point and that is this one. Thx!

    4020D Sleeve O-ring Pitting

Thank you for the reply. As noted above, this tractor doesn't see the day to day action that it used to. Yearly 30 acre bush hogging and running a woodchipper being the biggest loads applied. Also essentially laid up for 5 months every winter. My biggest concern moving forward - especially if I...

    4020D Sleeve O-ring Pitting

OK, this makes 2 suggestions to clean it up and put it back together again. Thank you for the response. I guess I take this to mean the pitying could be slot worse?

    Relocate Batteries

1966 Diesel 4020 w/24V system. I live in northern Maine, so I remove my batts for the winter. I also wind up taking the batteries out at least once a season to give them a good charging (no power where the tractor lives). When you get right down to it, the battery box configuration isnt really...

here are two photos of the part in question. the first is how the power piston side looked when i took it apart. at that time the ring was intact inside the plug. the second is the approximate position i believe this must be when assembling. it seems that the piston ring is not menat to scrape...

4020 diesel roosa dbg dual piston advance issue

am i to understand that the power piston is meant to be compressed all the way in? it seems like it is hard on the cylinder to have the piston ring scraping the inside. it is funny that the manual (sm2045) does not give an indication of what the proper installation should look like.
