Farmall Throw out bearing carrier/clutch linkage

I think you probably have nailed it, and that probably also explains why the throw out bearing catches just the slightest bit and turns maybe a quarter turn while the tractor is running, stops, catches again, turs just slightly, etc. Thanks, once again, for you detailed analysis and expertise!

Farmall Throw out bearing carrier/clutch linkage

What would it take to warp a disc? The reason I ask is because when I took it apart, several of the bolts from the PP into the flywheel were not tightened down completely. I suspect that is why one of the PP fingers was damaged as well. I am not completely following you as to why that...

Farmall Throw out bearing carrier/clutch linkage

I am still having a problem with the clutch on my 544; I split the tractor and verified that everything was assembled correctly. Anyone familiar with a 70's Farmall? The throw-out bearing carrier is the same one used on about two dozen different models, so I am assuming that most, if not...

    Farmall seat springs

Yes, I meant how does one get them the old ones off? If you take the assembly that houses the springs off, there is a threaded rod that increases/decreases spring tension. Then there is a long narrow rectangular plate that has a drilled hole in which a pin from the spring plate passes through...

    Farmall seat springs

Does anyone have tips on replacing the rubber covered seat springs in an older Farmall tractor with the deluxe seat? Have never done it, and can"t seem to find anything online. Thanks!

    Farmall Clutch Adjustment

Thanks to everyone who provided their thoughts as to my clutch adjustment problem before I split the tractor (F544); it appears the remanufactured pressure plate had a bad finger. Turns out the operator's platform was bent; I have it just about back to where is should be, it is still affecting...

    Farmall 544 Clutch

Thanks for your thoughts on this, all the parts were new from th IH dealer, and although I don't specifically remember, I think we compared old with new when I got the parts because they have a core charge. Engine slid back on no problem, concrete floor, pressure plate bolted on after...

    Farmall 544 Clutch

"Something" is not correct. When the Platform is in place, the total amount of travel is half of what it is now. I can adjust the clevis out/forward more, which would allow the transmission to fully disengage, but with no free play, there is going to be constant pressure on the throw-out...

    Farmall 544 Clutch

It has been a couple years since I put the clutch in (Been a long term project) and I don't remember exactly what it looks like, but I am pretty sure I do remember that it obviously could not go together wrong, probably what you are saying about the springs. How about a "wrong" throw-out bearing?

    Farmall 544 Clutch

That's what is confusing. It works fine, when the operators platform is not on, but the total up & down travel is increased at least 3' in both directions. No noise, no sound of "something" wrong. I have not pulled off the inspection cover yet, I don't know if there is enough room to slide...

    Farmall 544 Clutch

I did not make any mystery adjustment, I was trying to get feedback to see if there was anything else to look at because in the pit of my stomach I knew that most likely the clutch somehow went in backwards. I can split it in a couple hours, it's just stupid and shouldn't have happened.

    Farmall 544 Clutch

Yeah very doubtful anything is bent, they are solid forged. I have seen something that talks about using small bolts in the pressure plate to take pressure off "something" in the pressure plate to adjust it. Seems really odd; also the linkage is very simple; it can't go back together wrong...

    Farmall 544 Clutch

The flywheel was resurfaced, the clutch and pressure plate were new; there is a procedure for "adjusting" the pressure plate when install is done. It is not in the manual. I got the tracor cheap and it was not running, but I know from towing it in the yard, that the clutch was working. I'm...

    Farmall 544 Clutch

I recently got an old 544 up and running after engine rebuild and clutch replacement. It runs fine, and I tested a new 8' mower, PTO and T/A work perfectly. I initially left the Operators Platform off to check for leaks, and put it back on yesterday. The platform, by design, limits the travel...
