    JD 5200 Steering issue

Hi, We have a JD5200 that runs great. That was until yesterday after about 4 hours of bushogging. Everything worked fine till we were loading on the trailer - and then sudden loss of steering. All other hydraulic components work fine. No noises or leaks. Fluid is full. When I jack it up...

    JD 2020 Spreader Works tractor

Hi, I recently purchased a 1967 JD 2020 high crop that has a tag attached to the right side cowl. The tag says Property of John Deere Spreaderworks. It goes on to say about all maintenance concerns should be addressed to the spreaderworks. Anyone know what this may mean? Is this rare? Kind...

2020 pinion adjust cast wheel vs 4020 cast wheel?

Thanks for the reply. Would you happen to know the diameter of the axle on a 2020? I need to make a tool with a pipe to help loosen the collars.

2020 pinion adjust cast wheel vs 4020 cast wheel?

Is the inside of the hub on a 2020 pinion adjust cast wheel the same diameter as the 4020? I made a tool for my 4020 to help knock the inner sleeves loose. This works great but didn't know if I could use same tool on a 2020 we are looking to buy? Are the axles the same diameter? thank you

Hi, I am considering purchasing a JD2020 diesel and would like to know any tips on what to check out on this machine. Known problems, etc. I have been strictly a 4020 man till now so I don"t have much info on these machines. Anything to watch out for would be appreciated. Are parts...

    5200 dual wheels

Dual wheels are put on tractors to give them more traction, to give better stability on hills, and to lighten the load on the ground. Thanks for asking.

    5200 dual wheels

I have a JD 5200 tractor that I would like to put duals on. Has anyone done this or have any ideas on how to accomplish? It has 16.9-28 tires on 15" rims on the machine now.

4020 Generator light stays on when turned off

Hi, I have a 1967 4020 diesel powershift. The generator light stays on after I turn the tractor off. Any ideas why this is happening? It starts out very dim, but gets brighter the longer you leave it off. The light is off when operating the tractor

    4020 Transmission Oil Temperature

I have not yet figured it out. I cleaned the trans. Cooler real good and have not had the problem since. This issue was at the same time I had a leak in a steering line, I wondered if air in the system would cause this, I also had been using the rear remotes with a disc and had heard that...

    4020 Transmission Oil Temperature

Yes, I have changed both filters. I had heard something about where they can get an internal high pressure leak in one of the remotes. I don't know how to check for this though. I wondered if that would make them heat up all the time or not. Mine is only PTO related.

    4020 Transmission Oil Temperature

Hi, Does yours heat up while using the PTO only or anytime the cooler is dirty? Mine doesn't get off of cold except when I use the PTO for a long time. My cooler isn't dirty and my fluid level is fine.

    4020 Transmission Oil Temperature

I have a 1967 4020 with Powershift. The transmission oil gauge shows an overheated condition after 4-5 hours of bush hogging using the PTO. It never heats up when just plowing, etc. Only with the PTO and only after a long time of mowing. I have cleaned the hydraulic oil cooler of debris. Is...

    Re: Repair of 4020 remote

I have new adapters on the cylinder I use. It is a conversion adapter from Pioneer to JD. I guess I have old style JD? Does the rebuild kit only repair leaks? Thanks for answering all of my questions.

    Repair of 4020 remote

I was reading your post about the repair of a breakaway coupler on a 4020. Is it necessary to remove the unit from the tractor to perform this rebuild? I don't have leaks, but the male tips will not stay in the coupler. Could there be something else at fault not covered in the rebuild kit? I...
