Is gas cutoff story la myth?

Lots of good information. I?m convinced that I should cut off the fuel when I shut down. I particularly liked Dean?s method to shut fuel off and let it empty out before switching it off This would help in remembering to cut it off. I can remember one night I had to get up out of bed and shut...

Is gas cutoff story la myth?

I?ve always heard that you should cut off the fuel cutoff when you finish using the tractor or the gas will get into the oil pan and contaminate the oil. I find nothing in the manuals to support this. It seems it?s purpose is so you can shut off the fuel so you can clean out the sediment...

    Melted 8n wiring harness

I just now had the same thing happen to me. Finish 12v conversion yesterday. Started and ran fine around the yard, but ammeter was showing negative instead of positive. So I read somewhere that I need to switch the wires. Disconnected the ground cable from the battery. Decided to lift the...

From no spark to weak spark

Before I made my first post, I read every post here for 3 or 4 weeks. I went through the archives and read anything that had to do with my problem. After I still couldn't get my tractor running, I decided to make my own post and ask you guys to help me. Yes, I know all the rules, I've read...

From no spark to weak spark

Dell, You responded to my original post twice, so I don't think I'm asking you to be a mind reader. Maybe you just replied without reading it. Roy

From no spark to weak spark

Dell, I appreciate your reply, but what you said does absolutely nothing to help me with my problem. The point is the spark is so weak, it can't jump the 3/16" gap. I thought maybe when you heard this you could tell me what I could do to make it jump.

From no spark to weak spark

Sorry Bruce. This was more of a follow up on my post of a couple of days ago, I gave all the info at that time. It's on page 3 by now, so I guess you didn't see it. Roy

From no spark to weak spark

Installed the new distributor. Engine still will not crank. Did the sparkie test will old plug, 3/16 gap. Spark is weak and will not jump. Jumps over to the side. Is blue but has no authority. Roy

Looks like 1.7/acres/Hr to me. That's doable.

    No Spark - revisited

I am pretty sure I have found the problem, and I'm almost ashamed to have to tell you. But, with all the help and information all of you gave me, I'll have to fess up. I took the distributor out to install the new points correctly and found it has about a 1/16" play (wobble) in the shaft...

    No spark

r geiger & Trucker, I have turned the flywheel all the way around using a screwdriver through the hole in the side, tooth by tooth. I can't find a TDC mark. My S/N is 8N-350765. Don't know if this S/N had the mark or not. I also tried cranking the engine and watching the rotor turn...

    No spark

JMOR. Maybe I didn't explain it properly. If you put both ends of the continuity checker together the light comes on. When you seperate them the light goes off. I put one end on one side of the points (movable) and the other end on the other point (stationary) When the points open there...

    No spark

You got your decimals in the wrong places but I understand what you mean. Mine is .720 across the flats. (0 wear) and .772 across the lobes. (.006" wear) Not much for 50 years. These were taken with the dist in the tractor. Should be able to get a better reading with it on the bench, but...
