    8n steering box lube

So how does the upper bearing get lubed? My 48 8N is ok right now, but should I be lubing the upper bearing somehow?

Killing fire ants the easy way...

Sorry to take so long to get back to you Red. No, I don't think it would work at that height as currently configured. It might do it with a different wand, because the pump operates at 60 psi. With the wand supplied, I can spray about 16 feet high, but the spray pattern is pretty wide - not what...

Killing fire ants the easy way...

Maybe. I'll try it next time I get out there and let you know. You may need a different wand or nozzle to get a forceful stream up that high. Trouble with spraying up high is you'll get it all over you if you're not very careful.

Killing fire ants the easy way...

Yeah, I'm aware of that. There are no apiaries near here. Nonetheless, I'm being very careful. Just had to do something - this is the worst they have been in 20 years.

Killing fire ants the easy way...

Lil Red and I just finished spraying fire ant mounds on about 4 acres of pasture. I'll have to reload to get the last 2-3 acres. This North Star 55 gallon spray rig has a 12v pump, a center nozzle for 14 foot broadcast spray, and a handheld spray gun with about a 15 foot hose. I turn on the...

    My 8N Tires

Tires manufactured in 2000 or earlier have a 10 character identification code, with the date code as the last 3 digits - 157 would be the 15th week of a year ending in 7. It can be hard to determine which year ending in 7; which is the main reason they went to a four digit date code - 1507 would...

Ford 8N Tractor and Implement Brochures

Sorry, Kris. This will have to be limited to domestic US addresses. It appears that shipping costs to Canada will be prohibitive, more than the material is worth. Please understand these are just sales brochures from a dealer. They contain very little technical information.

Ford 8N Tractor and Implement Brochures

I have a set of original 8N tractor and implement brochures from about 1951. There's about 24 or 25, some are color, some are fold-outs. I messed up the photos; some brochures appear twice. But I'm sure you get the idea. I would be happy to mail them to anyone who wants them. Just e-mail me your...

    Melling Oil Pump Repair Kit

Good info. Thanks! Found this at several suppliers for less than 40, including Summit. These must be the 9/16 gears because they're for the the 1942 pickup - right?

    8N Resistor Question (6V to 12V conversion)

Sorry, that search returns too many results. Search for posts authored by me, and read the one entitled "Thanks for help with 48 8N". The original information provided by Dell can probably be found but may take a while.

    8N Resistor Question (6V to 12V conversion)

I believe he's referring to Dell's method of reducing voltage to the coil using fixed value resistors. He used two Radio Shack #271-131 ceramic resistors, twisted together, to create a 1/2 ohm 20 watt resistor. This gives a good hot spark and lowers the ignition voltage sufficiently to protect...
