    FarmallM 264 vs 281

Ihave an old M perfect candidate for a div 2 type puller. It is 4 inch bore stock stroke and I have a 450 gas head and opportunity to buy a real good set of high comp. 4 in. pistons. Allelse being equal including cranking psi compression and no additional head or cam work to compensate for added...

    farmall cam

Just about like any other stock 248.They are same part no. Specs may or may not be different depends who you ask. At any rate a cam change by itself wont help much unless your old cam is wore out.

    First time puller

If you ran out of power you obviosly dont need to worry about weight tires or traction FOR NOW.Dyno tune to the most power including valve lash and follow others advice TRY LOW GEAR.

Question to ChadS and others about Farmall 450

I have pulled both 400 and 450 they will not run out of power on the low side of first even 8500 lbs and 18.4 x38.Easier conditions can usully handle high first.this is stock 281 firecrater. You will have trouble getting much below 6500 especially with fast hitch.Of course yuo can stroke it and...

    7inch stroke in farmall m

I have built a couple.AT 6.5 you are getting into the cam pretty bad with stock rod. Also rod length enters in .Definitely use a custom rod.If youy can afford to build a stroker you can afford to do it right.Save youy a lot of grief.

    Rocker arms

If you are a decent welder do it yourself.Measure from the center of the pivot to the center of the valve and to ccenter of adjustig bolt.A ittle simple math will get you a ratio cut and shoren as desired.Just be particular to wewld striaght and bolt at same angle as before,a cocked bolt will...

    450 farmall gas head

Dont screw up a good head.A 450 gas head will help quite a bit stock the little you will gain by milling is not worth it.Spend a little extra and buy custom pistons and get the compression you want.Besides the hundred or so you save by not milling will help with the pistons.
