FarmallM 264 vs 281

Ihave an old M perfect candidate for a div 2 type puller. It is 4 inch bore stock stroke and I have a 450 gas head and opportunity to buy a real good set of high comp. 4 in. pistons. Allelse being equal including cranking psi compression and no additional head or cam work to compensate for added cubes how much difference in h.p. and lugging ability? With 14.9 or 15.5 uncut tires maxed out drawbar etc. good clay track could a 264 hack it up to 6500 lbs?Could a 281 for that matter?Dont say to stroke it as I already have two of those for div 3 and 4.Thanks.

I had my Super M set up at one time with 15.5s with cast centers off a 656 and with 4.125 flat top pistons. It was a good combination. The tire got good traction and it balanced fairly well. With a 450 gas head, you'd have a little more umph and if you has some hi comp pistons, it would be a good true farm-stock set up.
But, lets not kid ourselves. For a good M/SM/400/450, this is a good farm stock set up. It won't compete with stroke.

I have a S/M with the 281 kit and 450 gas head with L.P intake and it does very well in div 2 and div 3 . I pull it in 5500 and 6000 and do very well with this set up.

It has 16.9x38s that we just cut " i mean rode warn" and i'm hopeing that will give me that little extra it needs.

Get as much cylinder presure as possible, mine is around 240 per cylinder now that it is broke in.

Any club that has writen rules or follows other clubs are about the same.
DIV 2 and DIV 3 rules are pretty much the same between all clubs.

Some times they make crazy rules about tire size .

You don't have to stroke a motor to pull farm stock in div 2 or 3 .
