    Check for voltage at the battery it should read 14.5 volts with tractor running or you can check it on the back of the alt. should read the same either way.

    It uses the same oil as the motor.You turn the hub to the horizontal position remove the plug and fill then turn it to the bottom and drain the excess then turn it back up and install the plug takes about 1/10 pint.

    Sorry Dennie, should have explained better. Check for 14.5 volts on the batt. terminal on the alt. If you have it there continue going back as Kurt-NEPA has said. If you don't have 14.5 volts at the alt. it is bad.

    sounds like a problem in the charging circuit if it will run on charger, alt./gen. not putting out. Check for voltage from alt./gen.

    If it is distributor ignition check the wire to the points,if it is on + it's positive ground if on - negative ground.
