    444 flywheel specifications

Hi all, I'm planning on getting my flywheel resurfaced. Does anyone know what the factory step height should be for a 444 dual clutch flywheel? It doesn't seem to be mentioned in the service manual. Cheers

Splitting tractor - what to replace?

Hi all, I'm planning on splitting my british made IH 444 tractor to replace/un-sieze my PTO clutch. What are the usual things one would replace when the tractor is split? I want to try and make a list pre-split, as since i'm in New Zealand, i'll likely have to get some parts shipped from the...

IH 444 3 point hitch jerking while being raised

Hi, Thanks for your help JimB2. There is a small orifice filter that I have checked and it is clean, and there is no additional filter near the dash. I'll top up the oil and recheck, but it seems i'm just going to have to remove the hydraulics, replace the flow control valve and check all o...

IH 444 - What is this electrical component?

Hi, thanks for your help. I've spent some time today going over the tractor, and it looks like the previous owners had replaced the key switch to a 4 pin switch, bypassed the coil resistor (pepper pot) and used the number 3 position on the key switch to activate the solenoid to power the glow...

IH 444 - What is this electrical component?

I should have also said, this particular component does not appear to be in any manual I have.

IH 444 - What is this electrical component?

Hi, just to double check, shouldn't the starter solenoid be connected to the starter motor like in the photo? Cheers

IH 444 - What is this electrical component?

Hi all, Most of my tractors electrical system has been disconnected or removed by previous owners. Currently, the only thing working is the starter. The starter motor engages and cranks the engine without issue. The tractor no longer has a voltage regulator, so my battery is not charging. I...

IH 444 3 point hitch jerking while being raised

Hi Jim, No there is no power steering on my tractor. The problem is apparent regardless of draft control position - fully forward or not. Yes, the aux control valves are used to control a front loader. As far as I can tell, the aux control valve spools are returning to their neutral position...

IH 444 3 point hitch jerking while being raised

Hi sorry for the late reply. The hydraulic pump is located near the front of the tractor and looks like it's driven off a gear set. Il believe the tractor was manufactured in GB in 1969 (according to the serial number). Hydraulic fluid is not quite to the level as stated in the manual, but is...

IH 444 3 point hitch jerking while being raised

Hi all, I'll try and describe the issue as best I can, so bear with me. When I raise my 3-point hitch using the position control with an implement connected, the arms will raise but will do so inconsistently. If a lightweight implement is attached it will raise, stop, raise, stop, raise, stop...

    IH 444?

Hi Jim, yes i'm in New Zealand. As I said above, the serial number is very hard to make out, so it may not even be an A. I had to use a lead pencil and a piece of paper to try and trace the worn letters/numbers. Cheers.

    IH 444?

Thanks for your replies. Have you ever heard of a 444 without the power steering component? Mine is mechanical only, no fittings/pipelines exist for connection to a hydraulic cylinder. The tractor is quite hard to steer (turning), but the cylinder that is currently equipped makes the tractor...

    IH 444?

Hi all, I've just bought what was described as a 444. However there are some features of my tractor that don't seem to be common to the pictures and discussions i've seen on various forums. I do have a model number, although it was very hard to read - Either A440001B001762 or A640001B001762...
