    I suppose asking this will show me up as a rookie, but I have often wondered what the composition of "distillate" is that older tractors were supposed to run on. Kerosene? Run with a carburetor, or as a diesel? what brands and years? How did they switch fuels, if "dual fuel?" and anything else...

    thinking about buying a used rd baler. JD 2750 for power, would like something simple, rugged and able to make tight 4 or 5" bales. budget less than 5K. suggestions welcome (custom operator now makes about 200 rd bales a year on my place. Thanks

    Slow starts on John Deere 2640

    Inline engine coolant heater 1500w does the job, even when temp is -25F. Just let it warm a bit to thin the hytrans fluid before you start working

    Yes, the center bolts onto the tractor and to clamps on the inside of the wheel see picture. the holes 11" center to center and the clamps are 19.5 center to center. as you can see, things are pretty far gone. thanks for the suggestion...

    Front rim on my 4wd 2240 takes a 9.5x24 tire. The rim has 6 welded studs that bolt onto an 8 hole wheel. Turns out that Deere doesn't carry them any more. the one I have is so far gone that it can't be welded,out of round and edges rolled over. Any idea where I might find one? web search of...
