    Mark & Ed, Thanks for you replys, I checked both of your suggestions and it was the circuit relief valve for the down pressure. It was sticking, I cleaned it a reinstalled now I can dig!! I do have some cylinders that are leaking oil so I will learn how to rebuild a cylinder soon. Tom

    Whining while in reverse

    I'm not trying to hijack this thread, but I also have a whine when in reverse on a '63 Ford 4000 w/ a 4 speed. It dosn't always whine, and only does it in reverse. Do I have to split the tractor or can it be fixed by removing the inspection plate?
