Thanks for the replys. I did find a local shop that can do exactly as you stated. They will cut off the old rod, weld a new rod onto the eye and machine to match the old rod. I am going to have them replace the seals also and they are going to test everything out for me, all I have to do is put...- tlelectric

753 Backhoe bucket cylinder
I have a 63 4000 ind. with a loader & 753 backhoe. The bucket cylinder is leaking oil badly by the seal. I removed the cylinder and was going to replace the seal. The rod on the cylinder is scored badly and needs to be repaired or replaced. Does anyone know if there is a salvage yard where I may...- tlelectric

Ford 753 Backhoe hydraulic question
Mark & Ed, Thanks for you replys, I checked both of your suggestions and it was the circuit relief valve for the down pressure. It was sticking, I cleaned it a reinstalled now I can dig!! I do have some cylinders that are leaking oil so I will learn how to rebuild a cylinder soon. Tom- tlelectric

Ford 753 Backhoe hydraulic question
I have a "63 Ford 4000 Ind. with a 723 loader and a 753 Backhoe. I am having an issued with the backhoe hydraulics. When I move the lift cylinder lever I do not have any downward pressure I do have lift pressure. The boom will drop under it"s own weight but will not apply any downward pressure...- tlelectric

The NAPA store could not find the part numbers, but said they can order them if I'm able to give them the part numbers. I have a '63 Ford 4000 industrial w/ a 725 loader and a 753 backhoe. When I use reverse the tranny whines on and off, and sometimes when I push in the clutch to shift gears I have to wait a while before I can shift gears without the gears grinding. Whining while in reverse
I'm not trying to hijack this thread, but I also have a whine when in reverse on a '63 Ford 4000 w/ a 4 speed. It dosn't always whine, and only does it in reverse. Do I have to split the tractor or can it be fixed by removing the inspection plate?- tlelectric
