    S55 Money pit

    Just got a call today from my machine shop guy. He informed me my crank rod journal were at .040 and looks like I need to find another crank or weld this one. Which he did not recommend. If any one has a "good" crank for sale let me know. Please e-mail me a price and condition. Thanks Tom

    Stearing gear repair

    I am doing this where I work. This is kind of a experiment for time spent and results. We problably will not finish it before the first week in Dec. Then I will see how reassembly goes with reshimming and the results. If it goes well I maybe looking for some cores.

    We are going to attempt to repair the bearing surface on a S55 stearing gear. We are going to use a comparitor to pick up the correct radius on the surface from the new bearing and then use a CNC lathe to clean up the shaft where the bearing runs using the information from the comparitor.     I just finished tearing down my S55 engine. I found the govenor bushing, thrust washer and the back of the gear in poor condition also need a new front cam bushing. If anyone has some good new or used parts that I need here please drop me a line.
