    as a kid

As a kid I helped my Uncle Bill on his dairy farm. He had a 770. We would help his brother Ralph with his hay. Ralph had a DC and worked away. I remember being dropped off at Ralph's to rake hay. I thought the DC was cool because it had a hand clutch and a straight pipe. It was kept in an old...

    1957 400

My son has an excavating business. He bought a CAT track loader this spring. When we were checking it out, he noticed that even the bolt heads were stamped CAT. When I saw the little eagles in the castings, I showed him. We got to wondering about them. They are cool. I attached a couple...

    1957 400

I've been working on getting my 400 ready for paint. I'm curious about the cast parts. Even the smallest seat bracket and pieces like the guide for the belt pulley engagement rod have a small Old Abe on them. Just wondering if there was a particular reason this was done?

    Timing 310 crawler

My neighbor called the other night to say he got her running. Thanks for the help.

    Feed Saver Mill

Thanks, I'll check it out. The bagger and piping for it are in the bed of the truck too.

    Feed Saver Mill

My new toy. Plan to take it to our covered bridge festival next September. It's in good shape. Just surface rust. Trying to find some literature.

    Case tractor model numbers

I was at the summer convention in IN. There was a 1090 there. I did not know they existed. Coming up from behind I thought someone just goofed around with the decals. Here's a shot of the info on the tractor that was at the show. This was the first show I have been able to attend. Fantastic job...

    Timing 310 crawler

I had a chance to go down and help my neighbor today. The problem is that he removed the distributor and now the crawler will not start. I have a 530 gas and I crawled underneath looking for the inspection plug for timing. Not there. Using a wire brush and screwdriver we located the inspection...

    Timing 310 crawler

The problem there is that the loader frame blocks the inspection port. Any alternative to removing the loader?

    Timing 310 crawler

Good morning. My neighbor is working on his 310-gas crawler-loader. He is having trouble finding the timing marks. Can anyone help us locate them? Thanks,

    Thanks Dieseltech

Awhile back I posted a question about a timing issue when swapping the injector pump on my 530. Sorry about the delay in follow up as I am one man army most days. In the process of switching back to the original pump (had it rebuilt) the shaft and slot were 180 out. Dieseltech suggested setting...

    530 injector

Thanks. In the hayfield all day today. Did locate .080 drill bit. Plan to check them tomorrow. I'll let you know.

    530 injector

Good afternoon. I'm working on a 530. I switched injector pumps with a spare that I had. Tractor ran great but pump leaked from the throttle shaft. I sent original pump out to be rebuilt. I lined the timing lines up in the window on the leaking pump and removed it. I put the rebuilt pump on then...

    Vtwin Kohler

Thanks. We've tried all the things you mentioned. May have to get a kit and tear carb totally apart. It was much simpler when you could turn a screw. I'm assuming the shut off switch either works or not. It has power. Could it be partially closed?

    Vtwin Kohler

WE have a V twin Kohler in a Craftsman GT 5000 tractor. Engine surging. Runs good if you pull the choke out slightly. It appears that you can not adjust the carb. Any ideas?
