    Odd Style Quick Hitch

Haha that's what I thought. Takes one step out of hooking it up.

    Odd Style Quick Hitch

I had this old quick hitch laying around and stuck it on my 4430 just to keep the link arms from swinging around and as a place to bungie strap hydraulic lines to. I don't really use the 3 point I just use the tractor for disking and side-dressing. The hitch is odd because it doesn't have a...

    4440 Flood Lights

I've got a 4440 that the flood lights are working sometimes and then just go out. Not necessarily when they get hot just happens with no pattern. I have checked it with a multi-meter and the breaker for the flood lights is working running 12 volts both sides in both cases, and the switch is...

    4440 2 - 12 volt parallel

I am going to switch my 4440 to the 2 - 12 volt in parallel. I am going to have a long positive cable made to hook to both and then on to the starter. For the negatives do I need to do the same and run to one ground or can I just run a short ground from each to the frame on their respective...

    4440 Main Hydraulic Pump Filter

Thanks for the replies guys, I'll just not mess with that front filter. Not sure why it's whining, does it in the Summer also. Grunts at startup and then whines lightly starting around 1600 RPM, after that engine is getting so loud can't tell if it goes away. Never did that before last Spring.

    Fuel Usage Gleaner R6

Thanks for replies guys. I'm going to try to idle less and run a little quicker with the smaller heads. All the idle/road time/slow going doesn't help. From what JDSeller said it sounds like I'm in the right ballpark on my estimate. I guess it is what it is keep running it...

    Fuel Usage Gleaner R6

I've been doing a lot of thought on costs for my budget next year. I'm trying to make it more accurate than it has been in the past. I'm looking to see if any of you guys have an idea on fuel usage for an R6 which has the Allis 426 motor. I'm running full throttle of course to keep everything to...

    4440 Main Hydraulic Pump Filter

Gentlemen in the 4440 owners manual it shows to have the dealer clean the main hydraulic pump filter at 1200 hours. On the JD Parts Catalog under the hydraulic stroke control valve it shows this but only on the original 49 CM 3 pump and located above a drain plug with a spring. I'd guess this...

    4440 Front Hydro Pump

I have been deep chiseling the last few days with my 4440 and I noticed a day ago that after it was worked really hard the front hydro pump "grunts" loud for a second when re-starting it after stopping for fuel, etc. It goes away immediately once started and only lasts a second or two on start...

2-105 Hydraulic into Trans PTO Valve

Thanks for the responses guys. I will do some thinking on it but at least I know capping the lines is an option. Once again thanks.

2-105 Hydraulic into Trans PTO Valve

I have a decent 2-105 that has started leaking trans oil out the around the left brake housing pretty bad, however it seems to be coming from above or the top of the actual housing. The oil that is leaking smells like gear lube however the hydro oil level goes down. So looking back on previous...

to farm or not to farm...

Try farming 40 acres of it the first year or two and see how it goes. You'll have comparatively little risk money wise and can slowly dip your feet into the pool. Plus you will make some mistakes as you learn and its easier to learn on 40 than 200. 200 is probably too much to just jump into...

    Remote Hookup Difficult 2-105

Thanks for all the advice guys. I will look into the Pioneer pressure couplers and other solutions this Winter once my full time job and the farming both slow down.

    Remote Hookup Difficult 2-105

What is you guys trick to easily unhooking and hooking the hydraulic lines on a 2-105? I've got a real nice 2200 hour one that I bought off a retired neighbor a few years ago. Its one of my two tractors I actively use farming part-time and I have to switch implements all the time, some use both...

4440 Low Pressure Return Hydraulic Motor

Thanks a lot guys. It sounds like I will be fine running the normal outlet return. I'm only spraying 100 or so acres a year. I have ordered the rubber stops from John Deere to prevent the hydraulic lever from going back to neutral and will use float to stop the pump as suggested.
