What was I thinking?

I have so many projects at 74, Won't get most of them done no helpers, wanted my son to help but he has been gone somewhere for ten years. Last time we saw him he told us he never wanted to see us again and he hasn't seen us I guess he kept his word

That is truly sad. I can’t even begin to imagine what type of circumstances or actions could keep a child from visiting his parents. No need to go into any detail, in terms of a forum it is best if kept to yourself. I recently found out some on here don’t like this, but I am going to pray there is a resolution to this before your final days come upon you.

I really don't care if it offends someone for me to ask for prayer we covet your prayers. I will try to refrain from talking about my family sorry.

I'm a little younger than some on this forum, in my mid to later 50s. But with my health problems I've been selling a lot of the projects that I've picked up since my high school days in the 80s. Some I was saving for my sons, but they have their own projects here that they seldom have time to come home and work on. I came to the conclusion that I needed to let some go. In the past 3 or so years I've sold at least 7, with 2 more to go as soon as the ground thaws and one I'm torn whether I want to let go or not. I have a buyer for it who saw it when he was here buying a different pickup I had for sale and really wants it, but it is one of my favorites. And since I inhereted the 61 Apache from my brother I have at least 1 too many! And at least 8 others that I haven't gotten offers on but also haven't advertised either. Between my brother when he was alive and me we hauled 10 that I can think of to scrap. Wish we hadn't scrapped 3 of them, but they weren't mine to make that decision. A few years earlier I sold 2 pickups I wish I hadn't, but needed the money worse than I needed the pickups. So I have some regrets about some and glad others have gone to people who are doing something with them.

The way I see it is all it takes is self centeredness.

that's what keeps us going. I'm only 65 and I have a hard time with simple things and lose patience easily but I always have something to fix, good more than bad

I have a 65 Chevy step side pickup my brother left me. The body is rusted beyond repair. I found a complete body on craigs list at a good price. All I need to do I remove the rusted body and install the good one. At 83 I have to struggle changing my oil anymore, and not even possible rolling around in the dirt removing rusted body bolts. It will not happen. At 83 I think I'm still living in my 45 year old body. I think others are a lot like me. we can still dream. Stan
Doesn't everyone in California build hotrods until they're 100? :D

I would think you should be able to find someone to either work with you or may do the job for you.

No harm in that & you'll have a good truck out of the deal. Maybe meet another good person along the way.

Mike

I have 4 tractors, newest one 63', always something to do. Had off-road race cars in my 20's early 30's, baha 1000, Mint & Parker 400, etc. Out grew it,

as far as I am concerned you do not need to stop talking about your family. mistakes made by one and told to many can often help someone else not make the same mistake. We all need and should ask for prayer and other help when needed. Not always easy to ask but good for the soul.

I'm 93 and am still hoping to finish my 37 Cord project I started in 68. Had to make most of the parts and it won't be show quality but I'm hoping it will be drivable. I used a Buick V6 with a Olds Toronodo Trans. I had to make most of the body parts out of fiber-Glas. I have alittle paint work to finish and then finish the wiring and I can try the starter.

I get it, in your head you’re still 45… but those bolts won’t care 😄 could be a good time to either sell it as a project or pay someone to do the heavy lifting.

I don't know what a 37 Cord is but I worked with a guy that made a dune buggy with the Olds tranny and engine. Quite impressive. My father is 91 and barly able to walk w/ walker. I hope you finish it to, good luck.

I'm 70yo with a bunch of heavy equipment and a couple trucks I use in the summer months for my dirtwork. I'm lucky to have a son that helps me with the heavy lifting anytime I ask, He's 49yo with a wife and two teenage daughters and a Truck sales manager for Freightliner/WesternStar and 90 miles away from me so I try not to ask him for much of his time. I'm also dealing with compression fractures in my lower back from an old accident. I'm seriously considering pulling the plug on my operation end of the season this year. I just don't know what I'll do with my time after that. So often I hear about people my age and eve younger sometimes retiring and next time you hear about them they've died.

Cord is a car. They were highly styled and a lot of movie stars had them in the 30's and 40's. Don't know where you live but there is a museum in Auburn Indiana that has Auburn, Cord, and Dusenberg cars from back then. Also a lot of IHC trucks. Definitely worth a look.

I just love dirt work! I had my own tri-axle for two years but sold it in late '07 when construction stopped. After that I drove part time for two brothers who had hired my truck a lot previously. Im also operater dozer and excavator and Chinese Grade-all.Those were good times! Put me up and I will come up and help. and I am only 77.

I was out in the Maryland countryside a few years back and talked to the owner of this car. They were doing a photo shoot for a classic cars magazine. The magazine actually might be called "Classic Cars." Obviously everything was done to museum-quality standards and for the most part he did it all himself with the exception of the paint and interior. Thirty-five year project with some pauses here and there. Started with a sad old shell of a car and slowly built it up, shared some photos with me of what he'd started with. I have to admire that kind of long-term commitment--I think most people need this kind of thing, whether it's a car or work or some other project to keep going. I would have mounted the twin spare tires on the sides instead of on the rear but I wasn't the one writing the checks. Beautiful car--I believe the power was a straight-8.
