What was I thinking?

I have a 65 Chevy step side pickup my brother left me. The body is rusted beyond repair. I found a complete body on craigs list at a good price. All I need to do I remove the rusted body and install the good one. At 83 I have to struggle changing my oil anymore, and not even possible rolling around in the dirt removing rusted body bolts. It will not happen. At 83 I think I'm still living in my 45 year old body. I think others are a lot like me. we can still dream. Stan

Maybe it will happen, maybe it won’t, but you can always dream. I’m finally getting parts together on a ‘59 Chevy panel van with the solid sides. It came with the factory 283 and a 350 with a later 5-speed tranny will finally be getting dropped into in a few months.
I will embarrassingly say I’ve had this since the mid-90s without it being worked on. But this year, it will happen.
Luckily, my wife understands. 😎

Don't feel bad, I have a 52 Plymouth coupe about that long, and hasn't been worked on for a long time. Stan

I'm 81 and I wish I had only one project that was foolishly bought over past few years and collected dust since.

Time for a rant. IMO a wealth of knowledge is going down the drain for lack of younger people willing to be mentored. What I'm saying is that I'm willing to pay someone to turn wrenches while I set in lawn chair and furnish know-how. Unemployment hasn't dropped to 0 but I can't find a taker.

I just today put the rebuilt 327 into my '31 Pontiac coupe. Engine parts had been collecting dust for at least 7 years, to replace the tired 283. I might even get around to unplugging the other two 2 barrels on the 3 deuces and see if they really work. I dug this car out of the Powder River in eastern Oregon in 1977. Nothing but a pile of rusty sheet metal. Sometimes I just crack a cold one and think about having it for almost 50 years. steve

I’m 64 and still working so even though my time to work on stuff is limited,I always got my projects done myself for the most part…..until about 2 weeks ago.the engine in my daily driver needed swapping out and for the first time I hired someone else to do it!Not that I couldn’t do it;I’ve swapped engines quite a few times.I just plain didn’t want to.my body is thanking me for it believe me.working on equipment is one thing, crawling in,under and around vehicles is another

I purchased a 1929 Ford Model A Roadster pickup in 1965. It was an absolute basket case. Finally started restoration in 2010 and finished in 2013. It's never too late to start a fun project. It might take a little bit longer. BobTx

Had my 53 Ford Mainline in storage since 86, been collecting parts and misc. Now that I'm retired I've started working on it. My 73 year old body can't crawl around under the hood and under the car like I used to, so going slow a little at a time. Did get the engine changed out last summer and got it running. Now for lots of little things. Will probably keep me going for years. 😄

I got a 78’ Dodge LRT I bought brand new. It’s been collecting dust for far too long.
She says since we both retired we need to get it cleaned up and running good so we can enjoy it like we used to. Gonna try and make that happen

I always tell my 97 year old dad that he thinks he can, and he wants to , but it aint gonna happen.

I’m moving very slowly on my Mustang project. I thought at age 76 I could do more.
And now I’m recovering from another back surgery.
