New crank pulley from Steiner muucchh too tight, won't go on 1941 Ford 9n on initial try

Hi all, again, Last Thur Sept 24 I posted about 9N crankshaft pulley removal to address a bad oil leak and got great feedback. The (probably) original pulley was lightly pitted and visibly worn so I got part no ABC021/Made in Taiwan from Steiner Tractor Parts to replace the old one. Also got a...

Ford 9N pulley removal, pulley/crank rotate with tractor in gear

Hi- I'm disassembling my 1941 Ford 9N to access the front oil rope seals and replace them since it leaks a bunch up there. Got it tore down to removing the timing gear cover and am confounded by getting off the (pretty sure its original) nut that secures the pulley. The tractor is in 1st gear...

    1941 9N distributor, contact points, coil +

As part of remedying problems for a 1941 9N which stopped running and would not start, including a blown head gasket, and subsequent cracked block, I tore into the front mount distributor. This poor component on my 9N kept getting dosed with overheating coolant belching out of the radiator top...

    couple quick 9N thermostat ?s

Hi- In the attached photo, is the just-bought-by-me 180 degree thermostat oriented correctly for installation in the hose? Also, when that or any thermostat is closed, where does the coolant go? Sorry for the dumb question, but... I presume it circulates around the engine block? Thanks.

9N coil "testing" and a happy ending

Hi, occasional poster here: After some rains a week ago, I hooked up a box rake to the '41 12V 9N to smooth out the pot-holed driveway. Partway through the job, the radiator puked out coolant (thought I had that problem fixed...) and the tractor died. Leaving it out in the rain in the past...

    9N Marvel-Schebler poppet return spring

Hi- Very occasional poster with quick questions. 1941 Ford 9N 6-year old battery died, replacement obtained, installed. Tractor out in the rain and snow for a few weeks in the meantime. Cranked would not start. No gas! Added what little there was in a can, probably need more. Still not...

front axle mangling lower radiator hose+

Hi- I am an occasional poster and have a new crisis on a 1941 Ford 9N. It has an aftermarket radiator a year or so old. I kept losing coolant and finally determined that it was leaking from the lower radiator hose/output "port" both of which were getting hit by and (the port) mangled by the...

    9N trans input shaft + a clutch/flywheel install question

My 1941 9N has a differently designed input shaft bearing retainer for the transmission (I think that is what it is called) from the one shown in the F04 manual. The gasket which I got from Ford New Holland is smaller than the original and has ears on it, while mine is square and larger. Also...

9n ring gear - my experience, no go a home

Got a ring gear from Ford-New Holland ($ - twice as much as other sources) and with the flywheel in freezer overnight and the gear in the oven at broil / 500 F for an hour (highest temp), I could not get the ring gear on. So off they go to a tractor shop. Incidentally the flywheel has a raised...

    9N clutch/pressure plate bolts and flywheel bolts-reusable?

Getting set to put a new ring gear on my 9N flywheel. Have the parts, incl. a new trans. input seal but no bolts. See below. Question: Can the clutch/pressure plate bolts and flywheel bolts be reused? I had the tractor apart 20 years ago and had the crankshaft ground, new main bearings, etc...
